I've only seen an LP of the game and it was a long time ago, so I won't rate this one.

Haven't played Deadly Premonition, but I got it for $1 last year and now I'm hyped.

The House in Fata Morgana: 8.7/10

Just finished Morgana today. It's a bold and brilliant story that's marred by some horrendous pacing issues on the back half.

First three stories were absolute bangers, then the 4th Door (the fake-out) was a misstep that should've been cut. Gisele and Michel's backstories were compelling and brutal in their own ways, but after those two tales, things got very redundant. I wasn't a fan of the way we got Morgana's backstory in full-detail then had to revisit the "past" in full-detail. I'd have preferred a shortened version from Morgana, followed by the full truth in the final "past" sequence. Not gonna lie, I had to force myself through a good chunk of the story.

Ending was powerful. I could tell it was going to be a happy ending a mile away, but the suspense, supernatural elements, and Morgana's refusal to forgive Mell/Swordsman/Jacapo elevated everything for me.

The frame tale structuring was brilliant (aside from the aforementioned pacing issues). Very cool how it was used to explore themes of reincarnation, identity, the human spirit, and the ripple effect of the actions we take against one another.

Definitely a great, unique story that will probably stick with me for quite a while. Not sure when I'll start the DLC, but I may change my score depending on how it is.

And this is a nitpick, but the verbal pauses ("..........") were obnoxious to click through. I'm fine with a verbal pause now and then for effect, but toward the end it felt like every other line of dialogue was ".........." That's just taxing on the reader.

Oh god no, it's a horrible game, don't be hyped. It just happens to have one of the most charming protagonists of all-time.

Plot itself would get a flat out 0 from me considering the first third is basically shamelessly copying Twin Peaks scene to scene, the middle is just one nonsensical dialogue to the next and the end is just a giant mess of a mystery wrap up. However I was entertained by this janky mess of a game and story in ways I haven't even by decent stories so this deserves the same score I'd give to the entire game.

Nominate Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward (assuming full-length expansions are OK)

Well be doing the current FFXIV saga all at once with separate ratings for each expansion and an overall rating, but Im going to wait until Endwalker has been out for long enough first.

As for Deadly Premonition, 6 as while it flagrantly rips off Twin Peaks and handles some sensitive subject matter in a less than ideal way, it does genuinely have one of the best protagonists of all time which elevates it to a decent score. In fact York deserved a better game!
