Tell us about it. Got any recommendations? Do avoid spoilers if applicable, of course.

As for me, I just got done with The Disordered Cosmos: A Journey into Dark Matter, Spacetime, and Dreams Deferred by Chanda Prescod-Weinstein, a Black-Jewish agender particle physicist and social justice activist. Its a wonderful book, weaving physics, anthropology, sociology, and her own autobiography together as a lens to examine how we do science, why its not the best, and how we could do it better. Shes extremely smart, well-educated, witty, and possesses great clarity of thought and humility. I feel smarter and wiser for having read it.
Also she ends the book with a pages-long thank you to her mom, which is pretty adorable. But enough about me. Tell me about what youve been reading!

i'm currently reading Fossil Capital: The Rise of Steam Power and the Roots of Global Warming

as for a recommendation, yeah, a few weeks ago I read The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity and i believe everyone needs to read it. it represents the most desperately needed paradigm shift of all-time. not to oversell it or anything.

Norwegian Wood by Haruki Murakami
It started off really good, especially since it deals with suicide and I've lost a good friend to it. Really articulates the feelings you get. But slowly it just started getting less poignant and more sexual and boring. Almost done it!

I'm also technically in the middle of The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert. Fun little young adult read but I'm not sure if I'll finish it anytime soon.

I'm in the middle of a few other series' (The Dark Tower, Kingkiller Chronicle, Red Queen, Abyss Surrounds Us, Song of Ice/Fire) but I don't know when I'll start the next book in each series.

I know this looks bad.

A friend of mine wrote it, it's oddly entertaining.
It's a great before-bed read. One notable thing is, there is an entry for each day of the year, so if you like one in particular you can just remember the date. Same with if your book closes without a book mark...you can just think...Oh I was at about August 13th.

It hits a lot of things, but I will say, there were moments when I almost bounced my cat off my chest at 3AM laughing at some of the entries. Others are a bit more serious.

Kingkiller Chronicle,
The popular opinion on the internet is that book 2 isn't as good as the first. I disagree. Almost all the most memorable moments happen in book 2, and Rothfuss is clearly a more experienced writer by then.

Heh. Europa Universalis IV has an achievement named Norwegian Wood. The reference ends there though: it simply tasks you to control every province in the world that produces naval supplies, as Norway. It is both difficult and tedious and I have no intention of attempting it.

I just finished the last of the Witcher books today.
While I'm glad I read it, they aren't the best written books. The stuff with the main characters was all enjoyable, but they tended to get sidetracked in boring political intrigue (and normally I'm a fan of boring political intrigue).

Plots were pretty good, Moench has a fun 50s style of scripting, Trimpe was the perfect guy to draw big G. Ending made me tear up too, I'm a sucker for "a kid and his X" type stories.
