Is it just me or does it seem a bit... lackluster this year?

Game of the Year

• Deathloop (Arkane Studios/Bethesda)
• It Takes Two (Hazelight Studios/EA)
• Metroid Dread (Mercury Steam/Nintendo)
• Psychonauts 2 (Double Fine/Xbox Game Studios)
• Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Insomniac Games/SIE)
• Resident Evil Village (Capcom)

while not having played any of them, I've heard good to great things about each of those games, so idk.

I hope Psychonauts or Metroid gets it, but it'll probably be Resident Evil or Deathloop.

Psychonauts 2 is great and it's missing Forza Horizon 5 for no real reason.

It's so missing Halo Infinite which appears to be dominating the Players Voice vote lol

It doesn't have the typical AAA cinematic or open world blockbuster that usually win these awards but that's okay.

Ubisoft games are both too regular and samey to appear on these lists now. Same with Call of Duty.

Deathloop really doesn't deserve it. It's certainly fun, but just so much missed potential with what it could have been.

This really was a super awful year for gaming.

Out of those, I'd vote for Ratchet & Clank, enjoyed it a bit more than Psychonauts 2, though it mostly had to do with me hating the art style.

Hitman 3 got snubbed for coming out in January and being forgotten by now.
FH5 got snubbed for being a racing game.

But I don't have criticism of the games they did include.

Honestly, I'm more excited about all of the new game info we're getting tomorrow over the actual awards lol.

Geoff Keighley said this about the game awards:

Thats always the fun part, he says. Because youll have the known quantities of like, I want this developer doing this game, or I want this sequel. But what if theres this new IP? Probably six or ten of our games are things that people dont know exist, but were going to reveal them at the show in a fun way. Well see how it all plays out, but I feel pretty good. Its a very diverse lineup from a lot of studios across the industry. It really did come together this year. There will always be people that will be disappointed that X game is not there or the studio didnt show up with something. But by and large, I think its one of our stronger lineups that weve had across the entire show.

And apparently there are four or five reveals on the scale of Elden Ring.

He is but to his credit, there are usually a few good announcements during his award shows. Its just never on the level that he hypes them up to be. We know some of the confirmed games showing up and its a nice line-up so far at least.
