Human rights issues with Jingping and Putin aside, Russia and China aren't even close to some of the worst places to live on the planet. The average Russian or Chinese citizen have pretty similar lives to North Americans.

Better examples would be shit like North Korea, Turkmenistan, or any of the African countries with longterm dictators like Uganda.

I can't speak for Russia but I did visit China in 2005. Maybe it's different now. But in 2005 they still had a stark contrast between the different social classes. I saw a lot of homeless people in horrible conditions in the cities I visited.

There's a stark contrast between social classes in NA too though. I'm two hours from Vancouver, which is one of the richest cities on the planet, but you wouldn't know that if someone just dumped you on the DTES.
