A sequel focusing on the new cast members fighting ghosts? A remake staring the original characters? A remake starring new characters or a combination of new and old?

I kinda feel like, if you simply turned The Real Ghostbusters into a live action movie, you'd have a property that you could build a toy and video game empire on. We've likely seen the old guard in their last run. If they remake the first movie with Dana or Janine donning a Ghostbusters suit, and shift the focus from comedy to scary monster special effects, I think they could have something that's just as big as the original was in its peak or even bigger.

2016 called and they want their gimmick back.

The reason this movie is a hit is partially due to how they respected the lore, and history unlike the unfunny gross out comedy that the 2016 movie had.

Ghostbusters Afterlife is for fans by a man who respects his fathers legacy and adds his own thoughts to it.

I love Ghostbusters. One of my top 3 movies ever.

But it never needed more than the first one.

Let's leave the series alone now. They perfectly eulogised Harold Ramis and paid homage to the first movie. I'm OK with it as it is.
