They hadn't been arrested yet. Their attorney said that if charges were announced, they would make arrangements to be available to be arrested. They've stopped communicating with their attorney.

They were also sitting in a car when they joined the Zoom meeting for their son's arraignment.

I think that if the boy had been charged as a juvenile, then it would be reasonable to charge the parents as well because someone needs to be held accountable. In the same vein charging the boy as an adult means that the boy is being held accountable so charging the parents too is just howling for vengeance. I think they should either revise it to charge the boy as a juvenile [exclusive]or drop the charges against the parents.

I propose that we put the money our government has to best use. Instead of funding prisons we should train and staff guidance conselors. Schools used to have lots of assistant principals instead of just one. Instead of punishing parents for being inadequate: train and staff people in the schools to do the job!!! Teachers cost less than wardens.

The arraignment hearing for the parents was kinda bizarre. The defense attorneys were insisting that they were going to turn themselves in even with the knowledge that multiple law enforcement agencies were searching for them and they were found hiding in the basement of a commercial building.

Defense attorneys often have to make stupid arguments on behalf of their clients. It's part of the job.
