In a way, yes. There's a small set of spells Aima can learn (mostly stat-up and stat-down spells, but she can also learn Reduce, which is a strong Dark spell plus Dispel), but she actually has 0 max MP and really low Magic strength. The way characters give each other stats depending on line-up will give Aima MP to cast those spells, but they're better used by other characters -- Aima is a physical beast of a unit, with the highest HP, top-tier Strength, and some really good combat skills.

Yep the DS remake of Lucia 2 does a lot wrong
But the one thing it does right is making tia and dear permanent party members

While true, it also makes Dekar the stereotypical "dumb brute". In the OG Dekar is physically strong but he's also comedic as hell, not to mention he displays tactician capabilities.
