i tried the first mission of halo CE and got kinda bored. Its just a gallery shooter.

ivr played halo 3, havent played CE or 2

wanted to know the story before infinite but it doesnt seem enjoyable to play

love the multiplayer tho

Playing just the original trilogy really isnt going to be enough to know the story before playing infinite

Yes
CE is great, probably the best overall in terms of guns, vehicles, plot etc
2 was rushed and "rebalanced" for multiplayer and is generally worse on all fronts, but at least you can do whacky stuff like drive out of levels and so on
3 is better than 2 but worse than CE
ODST is about on par with CE
Reach is H2 level

Don't play 343i "Halo."

Okay TC, I am consciously biting:

Halo 1's first level is supposed to be a corridor shooter, so that the following levels that open up have more impact. Keep playing.

And like post 8 sad, play Reach and ODST as well. For those of us that prefer the earlier Bungie games, I think those are better than 4 and 5. They're full campaigns.

yeah the repetitive corridors are what killed it for me. Also not a fan of just walking around and blindly killing everything. I need some kind of mission objective to keep me engaged

There's only one real repetitive section and that's due to being an ancient structure full of zombies.

Yes, the following levels are much better and they open up with you doing more. A couple of them in that first game are still kind of corridor feeling but they're better than level 1, but it's worth it to get through to play the open levels.

There will be one level towards the end, I think it's the Library, you'll probably hate. Just get through it.

CE hasn't aged very well tbh

Like I still love it but it gets really repetitive and the story is extremely simple by modern standards
