I want to be honest, i am fairly ignorant when it comes to engineering. I imagine my question is going to make me sound foolish but i assure you i am being serious and honest with my question, so please if you are knowledgeable in this i would be very grateful for an answer.

Basically i want to connect a block of metal to my computer or smartphone. The basic gist is that i will take a usb c wire and strip one end and basically weld the negative and positive ends to the metal cube. Then i will probably put some duct tape around that to prevent any energy from slipping out and causing a fire.

I want to connect the usb c end to my computer and get the computer to recognize the cube as a programmable piece of hardware.

My dad said all this would do is make the cube increase in temperature and potentially cause a fire if the electricity flowing through it is powerful enough to head it up to that point. How can i extract data from the metal or implant data into it? How can i get the computer to recognize/pair with the cube?

Any kind of video links would be greatly appreciated. If you are wondering why i am doing this and got agood laugh at how crazy this sounds i will give you more to laugh about. Basically i am trying to create my own gaming system like that black mirror episode called san junipero where you can upload your consciousness into a digital avatar in a 3d world. I am unhappy with current gaming technology and figure i might as well try to build something myself since this technology is not likely to be out for another 20 years today i am taking the first steps towards creating something i truly believe in.

tfw don't know if troll topic or legit

If troll topic, fuck you
If legit, a block of metal isn't going to do dick. You need a microcontroller

Energy leakage is the number one cause of domestic fires.

You need to get the right drivers first.

Maybe i can install them by staring at the device long enough?
