I've never had the urge to shiny hunt or soft reset for anything

At least I can rewatch Ozark while doing this

I follow a relatively small streamer who had to do the soft reset a total of 4208 times before he got a Shiny Dialga.

this was a mistake

not because it's time consuming, but because i'm in too deep to back out now

and i'm probably not even at 250 resets yet

and also because i have NOTHING with thunder wave or sleep so i dont even really have a plan for weakening it when i find it. i did test a bunch of rhydon earthquakes and all of them took it down to high red, but of course i guarantee you the stupid affection system will make it crit and kill it

so here's hoping that first quick ball hits

Aww come on, what are you doing man? Get you a pokeyman who can capture things. Catch rates are already shit at 1 HP with sleep and you're gonna jeopardize your shiny dialga like that?

Remakes are indeed different. Every mon except Jirachi and Mew are not shiny locked.

I'd personally hunt for Palkia myself if Palkia's shiny wasn't trash.

For real, I'd have to wait until the end of the opening battle animation for the sparkle every time because it looks exactly the damn same. At least with Dialga I'll know immediately when his head first appears rather than having to wait through all the dramatic camera stuff

nah i'd rather get it from here. it will say in the dex entry what game it came from. so if it came from PoGo or SwSh where the odds are easier then it loses its luster a bunch

otherwise i would just dynamax adventures SwSh where the odds are literally 1/100 which is just a meme for shinies

I'll never understand the appeal of doing this.

Soft resetting for a shiny doesn't take a modicum of "skill" which is fine but it's just like playing the lottery for a one dollar reward. It's just repeating a boring repetitive process for a lousy recolor.

Shiny Gengar is okay. If you don't have the strong purple color fresh in your mind I could see it feeling underwhelming but when they're side by side I'm pretty happy with shiny gengar.

The almost identical slightly darker/lighter ones are so disappointing though.

idk how true this is but it's easier to do this your second time around. like kill the dialga and then keep on with the game normally, then beat the game and after you beat the gamedialga respawns back to the same place, and this time there's no cut scene

Are you completely sure all the legendaries can be shiny? I'm vaguely remember that these ones can't be be shiny in the original versions, you'd have to get shiny ones through events.
