apparently the shooter is on the other side of the door impersonating a cop and trying to get them to open the door. At one point he uses the word bro and the tone of his voice makes the entire class run out the window in fear.

No. The video shows kids in a classroom with the door locked and lights off. Someone outside says they are a cop and it's safe to open the door. The kids don't trust him and exit out a window and run across an open area to another building where a real cop is holding a door open to usher them in

The red flag was the voice didn't sound professional. And they said "bro". It felt off to the kids

yeah america needs much more sensible gun legislation but, i'm sorry... the bigger problem here are the myriad social ills which plague american society that don't quite apply to (to take your example) japan. and unfortunately, obviously... that is incomparably more difficult to even contemplate how to address.

Don't most first world nations ban guns? Most of the "nice nations" you can think of, all ban guns. Outside of the US, if you still want a gun, you have to go to third world places mostly

You can't just "ban guns".
An amendment repealing the 2nd would have to be seriously proposed, and ratified by 38 states. Then you gotta figure out how to get the 400+ million guns that we even know exist.

no they don't 'ban guns' although many types of firearms that are widely and readily available in the united states are prohibited in most other 'developed' countries

primarily there are just things like more government/bureaucratic oversight, mandatory training for licensing, having to have a legitimate reason for ownership esp. of certain types, etc..

If there is middle ground it would have happened by now and we wouldn't have this issue continuing further. Every time another shooting happens people say dumb stuff like it's societal faults....guns don't kill, people do, etc. And absolutely nothing was done about anything. Are you gonna say there's no need for any sort of gun control cause there should be a middle ground at the next mass shooting...in like 2 weeks from now?

I recall listening to a lecture from a Stanford professor talking about how certain personality types are innately prone for violence (anti-social types) and that they become more symptomatic in environments that are toxic, but otherwise would be normal in a safer environment. That means if a sociopath has access to guns, they become more violent compared to not having any. Apply that reasoning to other countries and you could say if guns become legal in other parts of the world, the people that are prone for violence would more than likely go on a similar shooting spree like in America. Guns are inherently dangerous in the hands of certain individuals. Having it easily accessible just makes it easier for them to externalize their anti-social behavior by killing people.

no in fact a lot are people are saying it was an officer because at the point the building was cleared (kids run out and are greeted by other cops telling them to remain calm)

You can actually buy guns in Japan, even as a foreigner, but it's highly regulated. That said one of the many reasons I live in Japan is that I don't have to worry about violent crime to nearly the degree you do in America. When I lived in the allegedly safe city of Seattle we had shootings outside my apartment at least once a year (though usually no one was killed). That's crazy thinking about it now.
