Is this a thing? Last week i was at the bank depositing a check and the teller was educating me on the mobile app. Basically saying while we love to see your face in person, you should no longer be visiting the bank to deposit checks cos you can do it remote. blah blah.

On the rare occasion I get a physical check I always use my bank's app to deposit it. So easy

Yeah. But one issue is I don't get the full amount right away.

They clear $200 right away and the rest takes about 3 days to clear.

It takes a hot second for it to clear in their system, but yeah, it's totally fine.

I took to using my bank's app once Covid hit. Before that, I'd stop by an ATM to cash my cheques, but once things locked down, it was much rarer for me to be in the neighbourhood of one and it just became a better idea to use the app. It's pretty handy, though I don't get physical cheques anymore.

I wouldnt mind trying it for a cheap perosnal check but im skeptical on a payroll check. last thing i need is for that to go sour

Nah Im sure she just told you that to mess with you.

Because a bank teller would have nothing better to do.

The people working in banks are actually trained to get people to use apps or ATMs whenever possible. Its just much cheaper that way for the banks.

If something does go wrong, it's easy enough to remedy. You're just taking a picture of the cheque, so you'll still have it and can bring it into the bank to correct any issues that might arise. Just make sure you hang on to your cheques for a few weeks after depositing them, and you should be fine.

I've been doing this about since I turned 18 or 19, I'm 24.

Also I have no issue getting the money immediatly, dunno if it's my bank or what.

I would rather go to the bank, personally. But since the closest branch is a couple hours away, I use the mobile app. Im always worried Ill mess it up, though But it is a thing

This is the part that sucks It's usually just a day or two. But that could hurt depending on what I need the money for

Tbh, I thought most places did direct deposit automatically. The last jobs I had didnt real lot give me any other choice I had to do direct deposit
