I'm a bit bias in that I love coming-of-age movies. Especially when it deals with people getting ready to graduate from high school.
I also love how the movie touches on the friendship, and it's made even more effective considering the fact that Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are long time friends, and that they wrote early drafts of the movie when they were in high school. Which also probably explains how they nailed the whole high school feel. Something these kind of movies tend to screw up a lot imo

Overall, it's a fun movie with a well paced, tight script and a relatable story/characters that came out at the perfect time.
And it helps that it's super quotable.

I havent seen it since it came out, but I just remember trying to watch some of those mid 00s early 10s comedies like Easy A and it feels so cringey now. I get that at the time that type of humor was new and fun. It feels so dated now.

Yeah, I've seen the movie so many times, it's ridiculous. There was a point in time where I would watch it every day. I have a friend who I watched it with a lot and to this day, we always throw quotes from the film at each other.
While I was figuring out how I wanted to structure the essay, I was just digging deep, thinking about why I liked the movie. I called that friend and told them that I genuinely believe that it might be my all time favorite film. Or, at the very least, it's definitely up there in the top 3 or something. I straight up love this movie and I can't think of many other movies I like to this level.

I have lots of movies that I like and would go as far as calling some of my absolute favorites, but I can't really think of too many that resonated with me the same way that Superbad did. A few that I can think of that comes really close was "Go" (1999), Scream 1/2, Mean Girls, and hell, I'll say Guardians of the Galaxy too. I love James Gunn as a director and did see that movie in theaters 4 times after all (technically 5 times. I saw it again when James Gunn held a special screening + Q&A at an independent theater in my city, despite watching it multiple times on Blu-ray by that point). I can't say I've done that for any other film...

Its one of those movies where you keep finding funny things in it for the first time even after watching it a bunch.

That or there might be a small line or gag that I probably forgot about that ends up being super funny to me whenever I go back and watch it again.
The last time I watched, I completely forgot that the miserable guy working at the convenience store is the same dude that shows up at Mark's party later on with the alcohol. Got a nice laugh out of me.
