Elephants are one of the smartest animals iirc up there with dolphins, pigs and dogs.

Probably a t-rex. The elephant would have to get a lucky gore, but all the t-rex has to do is a get a bite in and it can mortally wound the elephant. But the thought of reptile supremacy always gives me the heevy jeebies. Mammals should be in charge.
