I mean like some crazy people don't want to Vaxx (or is it Vax?) but there are always be crazy people doing crazy things. I mean like in general - if you are up to date with your vaccinations - it's over, isn't it?

When its over life will get bad again.

Because some people still want thier dumb offices, amusment parks and theaters back. Apparently they just can't wrap their heads around the idea that the old normal wasn't really that great to begin with and just learn to enjoy things as they are now.

Until they can at least accept and embrace some of the changes permanently, and learn to adopt them as part of society with or without covid, I'm still actually kind of rooting for covid, even though yeah the deaths are unfortunate. Apparently, and unfortunately, it takes a freaking epic pandemic to get anyone to change their ways. But since change wouldn't happen without it I guess I have no choice but to root for the "bad guy" in this situation.

You ever see MASH? There is an episode in the first season where a ceasefire is declared and the camp goes nuts drinking and celebrating and cancelling debts, and breaking up with with their war time pillow buddies, only to find out there is no cease fire, the war is still on. The show continued on for ten more season after that.

That's us.

We are in a lull because people have a hard time picturing the existential threat, we are wired to see and react to the threat in front of us, but when the threat is a concept like climate change or a microscopic airborne virus, we have a hard time conceptualizing the threat.

Part of this problem has been the endemic advocates, they have prolonged the crisis and allowed for the growth of dangerous mutations in the largest game of Russian Roulette since the cold war.

I'll assume your not really asking because of the office part... Since the reason for work from home being better in every way are almost self explanatory.

But as for the others...

Theaters- over priced in terms of everything, crowded and often louder than they should be. Sitting next to strangers and dealing with thier smells and sounds, not being able to go to the bathroom when needed.

The arguments you even see for them are actually kind of similar to the arguments in favor of offices... Which in itself can tell you they aren't as good as the covid alternative of VOD. "Theater experience" and "nothing will ever beat it" without tangible and/or quantifiable reasoning afterwards are just another way of saying "the new way is probably better but I can't wrap my head around it because it's new and so I'll just stick with the old way"

Amusement parks... I totally get that mileage varies here. But every time I've gone to one all it ever entails is standing in lines and waiting, waiting waiting... With brief moments of slight fun by being jostled about on the coaster/slide ect. The music is too loud at most parks as well and the crowds are WORSE than theaters. There's nothing enjoyable for me trying to wade through seas of people to stand in endless lines full of people to hear ear drum splitting pop music over the speakers the whole time. But again, I realize some people enjoy these things. Not going to say they are wrong, just going to say I'm not going to cry if covid puts an end to these things.

Grocery and all brick and mortar stores can go away as well for that matter. More lines, more crowds... And all just unnecessary when online ordering or digital goods is a thing.

If anything, we should be building our communities around these institutions, there are too many food deserts as it is. Walkable communities, would not only strengthen community bonds, but help limit the spread of viruses by eliminating large masses of people driving to "mega superstore" style hub centres.

Separation of homelife and work is important. Having a separate place to go to work greatly helps with that. And yes, I definitely do like the idea of having my own office someday.

Let me give a similar argument then as well. "Going out" definitely adds value.

And I am not even going to quote the others, you are just social recluse are you not? You do whatever makes you comfortable.

And I will do the same. I did not overcome my inherent introvertedness and my autistic tendencies just to go right back to a very similar situation.

Ordering groceries is a joke when the people doing them don't care about their job at all.

I think it's here to stay, though its severity and societal/economic impact will lessen. I imagine it'll eventually be like the flu in that it'll surge occasionally and that they'll recommend you vaccinate for each year.
