Minimum wage is $7.25 per hour.

Can you buy a shirt with that? Apparently even Goodwill prices shirts at $6.99 and thus $7.50 after tax.

Can you buy lunch for this? Most fast food place I know of are over this for enough food to satisfy and barely close to this to be going on a diet or anorexic.

An uber ride to your job probably cost more.

Most dumb toys cost almost $10 now even so you can't even give your child a nice little surprise.

Quite the opposite. Walmart is already one of the biggest sources of welfare.

  1. People should be paid higher wages so the government isn't forced to support them.
  2. Skills not meriting higher wages is scam and a lie and shame on you

This is correct.

Walmart is literally being paid by you and me to make billions of profits every year. You know, we could say that isn't right and Walmart should use some of their profits to pay their essential workers more....

But what if we one day make Walmart and we don't want to have to pay our workers more!!!!

Like wtf

1: no, welfare of its citizens the government's job. Walmart's job is to sell shit to people that want to buy shit.

2: so a receptionist's skills are just as valuable as a doctor's?

in my area, a 40 hour a week job (likely 2 jobs at 20 hrs a week, thus increasing gas expenses and cutting into free time) @ minwage gets you:

Approx. $1900-2100/month

Cheapest room rental in the city in a shithole: $500
Car insurance, liability only (you're only allowed to own a beater): $150
Cellphone bill, low end: $60
Internet bill, low end: $75
Utilities share (assuming 4 people in a house, which is what 500 gets you): $75

Bare necessities: 860

Groceries: $350mo for a single, likely more with the higher prices
Gas, w/ 2 jobs, avg 30km per day 6 days per week (Cuz 2 jobs): $120/mo

Random other stuff such as netflix subscription, new toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, medication, etc: $50/mo

total: $1380/mo

that leaves you with about $600/mo of flex money. Keep in mind, you live like a slum with a beater car, renting a room in some shithole house in the getto, never ever ever eating out, zero entertainment budget, zero emergency budget, zero automobile maintenance budget, etc.

Suppose you want a 1-bedroom apartment? your flex money goes down to <$100/mo. Good luck buying winter tires and going out on dates with that.

McDonalds gave us free meals on shift and a discount when not working, $11 minimum, medical and dental insurance, and a 401K that paid 3 to 1 for the first 1% and matched 1 to 1 for the next 3%.

In addition, how does someone making $9 an hour just up and move?

You realize how idiotic your post is correct?
Like, part of not paying people is because they can't afford to quit or leave.
That is why we call it wage slavery.

If they had the option, they probably would go to Denmark.

That would certainly drive US McDonalds to rethink its pay structure.

No amount of "fight for 15!" protests over the last decade or so got fast food to move on wages, at all. Workers simply refusing to work there did, over these past couple years.

Well part of getting them to refuse to work there is letting them know how much McDonalds is stealing their labor.

If instead of snide remarks like "move to Denmark" you assisted and let people know McDonalds pays Denmark employees 3 more AND has lower big mac prices, then maybe this efforts would succeed more.
You gotta acknowlesge that laughing at workers wanting a living wage and making bs arguments works against it.
