I run into a lot of meatheads who swear it's their favorite/favourite thing to do and that they can't get enough of it.

Yeah right. Think about it. If it wasn't healthy and didn't make you feel good, would you still be doing it?

I didn't think so.

Once you get into a routine, it not only becomes easy, but enjoyable. But those early weeks when you are fat and out of shape, not so much.

I resent this statement. I'm fat as heck and love working out. My problem is I got way to strong in the Marines. I can max everything in slow motion, and do aerobics for like 4 hours, but still after a week of doing it daily will gain half a pound.

I'm one of those people who can easily get endlessly strong super easy. But no matter what look fat, and if I so much as look at something unhealthy I gain 30 lbs. I even confuse the gym trainers, as I look out of shape and fat, but can easily out lift and run them all.

This is literally why they do it, yes.

This is literally why humans do most of the things they do that they claim to enjoy. It's sort of what the word "enjoy" actually means.

Asides from the obvious benefits, it's my chance to actively listen to music, clear my thoughts, get sunlight/fresh air, see pretty girls on the bike trail, etc.

It's not exactly fun but I feel way better after doing it

Agree but most dopaminergic activities are very inactive and instantly gratifying. When people get accustomed to that it's easy to forget how much your physical health relates to your happiness

I've exercised more in the past six months than I ever had in my life and I've . . . gained 20 lbs. That's epic failure at fitness.

Not necessarily. If you go from being a marshmallow to actually being somewhat in shape, you may be burning fat but also increasing muscle mass - and muscle weighs more than fat.

So yeah, if you work hard enough, you can potentially get in better shape and look much better, but still weigh more than you did when you started.

Now granted, if the only weight you put on was also fat, then yes, you're not exercising very well.

I actually do like working out. My favourite thing? Never.

I just find it so boring most of the time.
