Here's a good 'rule of thumb' for any new story like this. Wait 24 hours for more details to emerge before making any judgments as to what may or may not have happened. Even then, hold off on judgement until people (such as the person who was hurt or the person who is accused) have made statements if possible. Always at least assume innocence until, at the least, solid evidence of guilt can be provided. As far as I know this guy hasn't made a statement as to his motive/reasoning so I will not pass judgement.

That might actually be harder to make stick. I'm surprised they went with Murder 1 when the number and severity of any other homicide charges would have functionally guaranteed the same sentence without needing to prove any sort of premeditation. Regardless, I don't see that it's particularly likely that he gets off with anything less than life, so I still don't think there's much to debate here.

I suspect the charges will change as more info comes to light/people in the hospital suffer or die. I still don't want to pass a verdict as to if he's guilty or innocent until after more information has arrived.

The justification they gave was that the video shows him intentionally swerving to hit people, but the defense for that will just be that he was panicking and there were people in every direction. These are just the initial charges, there are still a shit ton of lesser charges plus the additional murder count for the kid that just died. Maybe they are starting at Murder 1 in the hopes he'll plead to lesser charges in exchange for some chance of getting out of eventually getting out of prison.

From all the dude's social media postings that I've seen, seems like a BLM supporter extremist, possibly a retaliation for Rittenhouse verdict.
I know people are gonna wanna tear me apart for saying that, but something I find sad and disturbing about these incidents is that everyone is hoping it was a member of the other political "team" who commited the crime, feeling like it could be a potential political victory for them, and then when it comes out that the criminal is part of one of those "teams" then they'll still blame the other one, whether it's BLM, Proud Boys, Antifa, or any of these modern movements.
It is sad that support for the victims and families of these tragedies seems to always be secondary in these cases. I think it has been for a long time, even say, after Columbine massacre of 1999. I feel like it's gotten worse though.
