The plot was phenomenal, but it also had the best art I've seen in an animated show ever. It was seriously out of this world. I saw they're making a season 2, but apparently it probably won't even be out until 2023 :/

Arcane was amazing and the idea of waiting two years for more sucks. I don't know how long it's been since I even played LoL, and even then it was because my friends played, but this show I'd watch again and recommend to almost anyone.

I'm on episode 5. It's very very good.

I feel like the show is probably better if you nothing about League though. This is backstory of several of the League characters so if you know things about their bio in can spoil some twists. Still fantastic regardless though.

I've always had very little to no interest in LoL before starting the show

I'm two episodes in and already I'm tempted to go play LoL for the first time. The show is excellent.

The game is fun but you don't really get any character/plot stuff out of it so coming from watching the show you might feel a bit cheated? I would wait for their MMO whenever that comes out (2026 lol). Or maybe play one that league steam RPG that just came out, but I don't know much about it or if it's any good

I can understand the temptation but idk.

Admittedly I haven't played in several years so things could have changed, but the actual act of playing the game really doesn't involve the lore at all unless you start digging into the character bios, which you can just as easily do on the wiki page.

Also in many ways I thought that the way they had to make the lore to account for the "present" in League of Legends with the game itself was damaging to the lore, though I think they've made some changes/retcons since I stopped playing so take this with a grain of salt.

And coming from someone who has spent way too much time on league (I'm currently obsessed with TFT), you really don't get much extra out of the show from playing the game. Maybe if you like, read up on all the lore and shit, but I don't know anyone that actually cares about that stuff. Though with how phenomenal this show is maybe that will change lol

Actually now that I think about it, playing league really doesn't add to the show at all, but playing TFT actually has added to it a good bit which is funny to me.

in the new tft set they have themed it around piltover/zaun to tie into arcane probably, and in the set they have Vi and her traits are enforcer/bruiser. So at the start of the show I was thinking, how in the world is Vi supposed to be an enforcer? So TFT kind of spoiled the plot for me a bit hah

I'm assuming your hatred is mostly gameplay related or maybe the memes... Arcane obviously has none of that. If they took all of the lol elements out of Arcane it'd still be an amazing show.

I'm a Dota fan and therefore League and Riot suck and anybody who likes them sucks so it hurts me to say this, but Arcane is phenomenal. Much better than the Dota anime.

I've only seen the first 6 episodes and didn't watch the batch of final 3 released this weekend yet, but this isn't true so far. Each batch of three episodes are sort a mini arc and they are excellently plotted. I have a hard time seeing the final 3 fumbling this.

Ugh. Am I a Riot fan now? I love TFT, I love K/DA, I love Arcane, I love Valorant, Legends of Runeterra seems really good even though I'm not interested in a card game....oh noooooooooooo......

Act 1 > Act 3 > Act 2, imo.

Some scenes in act 3 feel a bit rushed to me but it still manages to hit the the high notes very well. Can't wait for season 2.

Also...question for anyone who is familiar with League lore and has finished Arcane: is the person from Noxus who was mentioned to have killed Mel's brother(?) supposed to be Swain?

Oh I forgot about Darius. Swain would make more sense to me based on my passing familiarity with the lore, but I suppose either would work.

Edit: Or it could just be an original character. I really hope it's the one I mentioned though because I always loved them from a flavor/design perspective.

I think it's supposed to be Swain. There's an awful lot of crows/ravens featured prominently throughout Acts 2 and 3 of Arcane and I don't think that's a coincidence.

From what I've read on reddit, the timeline isn't totally consistent with the existing lore timeline, so they'll have to change some things around to make any existing character fit, but they've already retconned some timeline stuff with Vi/Ekko/Jinx in Arcane already so that's not too big a stretch.

I don't know enough to comment on specific changes--moreso I think it's good they don't seem to treat existing lore (which seems a bit scattered at times) as a hard constraint.

My hatred of LoL is squarely on the playerbase, all those countless people who told me to kill myself because I made a minor mistake in an unranked match in a video game, but I don't hate the characters or anything so maybe I'll check this out.

I agree, it's definitely for the better.

I think I saw a piece of an interview from one of the guys who handled the story for the new turn taking rpg that they released, where he basically said that regardless of what the existing lore's limitations are, they wanted to put together a story that could happen, almost like an AU. The world building and consistent characterization of the existing characters within the IP were the priority for them.

I think Id like the Bridge fight more if Ekko and Jinxs relationship was built up more. Visually it was super cool but its just not as impactful to me in other senses.

Yeah. I think the the music video for enemy builds it out a little bit more too.
Stylistically, it was a super cool scene regardless.

I'm four episodes in. It's pretty good! Not the best show ever (at least not yet) but definitely worth watching.

I don't know any LoL lore other than what I've now seen on the show, but I was hoping my old main Morgana would show up and she hasn't yet. The champs I do recognize, except Heimerdinger, were introduced after I quit playing, I think. I remember I stopped right before Jinx.

Well Caitlyn was released well before both. Caitlyn is also pretty much unrecognizable though if you're only familiar with her original art before the visual redesign.

Vi was out about a year before Jinx according to the wiki.

Ok yes Arcane was super good. The only major negative is that it should've been longer. Like, there were times where it felt rushed or where character relationships would've benefitted from some little moments. It also felt like it ended too soon and I don't want to wait until 2023.

Still, it's high praise when my biggest complaint is that I want to watch more!

Yeah I think that's a common complaint. I was dumbfounded going into the last episode as to how they were going to wrap everything up. They didn't do an amazing job of that. To be fair, with how damn expensive the animation in this show has to be I'm not surprised

I think it suffered slightly by having too many storylines going on.

Like, I really didn't care about the Mel storyline and thought it got way too much spotlight? I enjoyed the stuff with her and Jayce (though Jayce's story in general was my least favorite) but unless there's a huge emphasis on Noxus in S2... I just... didn't care?

I suspect the Mel stuff is in there either because Noxus is going to feature in S2 or because they are planning a different animated series or something focusing entirely on Noxus. (Or maybe Noxus/Ionia, or whatever)

Within that context I think it's fine, though I do agree that if they aren't planning something like that then this will feel out of place.

Man, just looking at the character list for Ionia... I really hope we never go there. I hate like 90% of the champs there.

I mean, Noxus isn't much better for me, but maybe we'll get 3 seconds of Kled.

There's almost no chance Noxus won't feature prominently in the next season I feel like. They don't have too much else they can say about Vi/Jinx story at this point, unless they're going to severely retcon Jinx lore and make her redeemable.
