I don't think many feel good about this from what I've been reading, but I'm going to push any preconceived notions I have about it away and watch it for what it is. My big hope is the fact that they're doing a series and not a movie like Death Note, it seems they're taking this one a little more seriously. Curious to see what plotlines they go with and how faithful they are.

Everything I've heard about it has been negative. The consensus seems to be "It tries to be a really faithful remake, but it loses a lot of style in the process and feels both dull and pointless since it tells exactly the same story", roughly.

Just finished the first episode. And it was pretty good in my opinion. Introduced Faye a little earlier than I thought they would, still Ein and hopefully Ed to come. But you could see the callbacks to the original while sill kind of keeping it their own. They definitely made it known that Vicious as the main guy this early on which was a surprise to me.

Just wanted to watch the first episode when it dropped. Probably won't be able to watch more until Sunday evening because I'm going on a weekend trip out of state, but I was actually impressed with what I saw.

The first episode definitely kind of runs parallel with the first episode of the anime with a few details added on involving the overarching plot and some of the other first few episodes (Faye in the bathroom of the Bebop). And they did a good job modernizing it, as much as a show set 50+ years in the future can be modernized lol.

Spike and Jet I feel like they nailed their chemistry and dynamic. Still left to judge for the rest of the crew. I really hope they delve into Faye's backstory, I'm sure they will. They didn't introduce her to the crew like in the anime where they met her at the casino, she's basically just a rival cowboy from how the first episode went, which is why I hope they don't try to gloss over Faye's overall story

It murdered Julia's character along with Vicious.

For some reason Julia is now a singer of some sort, and vicious is basically a punk with a temper instead of a cold-blooded killer

I watched the first episode and yeah it's pretty decent! Like, it's really not doing anything to add to the original and feels kind of unnecessary, but idk. It feels pretty faithful and there's nothing overtly offensive about it aside from Vicious looking kind of silly.

People who never saw the original will probably enjoy it and nerds will probably hate it.

The music is GREAT. It's awesome hearing new recordings from The Seatbelts. Best part of the show so far.
