20 might as well be a teenager.

If you're over 30 and working a non managerial position at McDonalds you need to get your shit together.

Why?
Because you think a place open 24 hours most of which cannot be worked by a teenager is a job for teenagers?

That PROVES TCs point!1!

Most people know this and still say these are jobs for teenagers.
The reason is because if McDonalds paid their adult over 30 workers more, they would feel bad because they can't say to themselves "least I am making like double those losers at McDonalds are making! hahhaa"

I never said it's a job only for teenagers. I said if you're in you 30s and working a bullshit fast food job you need to get your shit together.

Unless it's something temporary while you're looking for something else between jobs. I'd never shit on someone for taking any job they can get while they figure something else out.

What makes it bullshit? McDonalds is a billion dollar company with stores all over the world.
Why are these bullshit jobs?
Someone has to do the work or McDonalds ceases to exist as a billion dollar company.

Why? People need money, and even with college degrees, the only jobs available to them may only be in fast food or retail.

I mean...he's right tho.

Conservatives say these jobs are only meant for teenagers, but that'd mean they could only realistically be open from 2-ish to 10 on weekdays if their entire low-level workforce was teenagers, not even accounting for any extracurricular activities.

Of course, however, the narrative has changed from that to telling workers it's a job anybody can do and therefore they don't deserve a living wage until they pick up a "real" skill (and then being butthurt when their local McDonald's is now understaffed and struggling to find workers).

You need me to explain to you why a part time hourly job at McDonald's is a bullshit ass job?

I'm pretty sure you're entire contention is that it's a bullshit ass job.

And corporate McDonald's makes the vast majority of their money from real estate leases to their franchisees. If you work an hourly position at McDonalds you work for that franchisee, not corporate.

Yep

And the crazy thing is when I worked in retail I absolutely worked a lot harder than I do in my fancy "adult" office job, all for minimum wage.

Full time employees rarely exist in a retail/fast food industry outside managers, and even they have troubles getting that status. The reason for that is that the moment you are classified as Full-Time you have to be paid certain benefits and even gain stock options. You are also unable to be fired without reasonable cause. This is mandatory by law, at least here in Canada.

They get around that by having what is called Part-Time/Full-Time, which gives you just shy of full time hours (40), at a maximum of 36 hours a week. They don't have to guarantee you hours, or benefits but some companies do. They also have the option of firing you for even the most miniscule of things and outside of extreme cases you can't do anything about it. I know this because I have been fired once in my life and literally took the company to court over it. Didn't win, but managed to get the company removed from my permanent record.
