I'm guessing it's partly this and partly people just being dumb. Reading a Facebook convo in my native language often leaves me confused as to how people are able to graduate high school when they can't produce a single post consisting of proper grammar and/or spelling.
I get that it's not as important to everyone, but I can't fathom how you'd fuck up something that has been drilled into your brain for 12+ years

As a senior manager, this is very true as well. Most of the time, when i see an email typed "professionally", it's most likely their secretary doing it for them.

These scams are sort of depressing though, considering that they actually work on occasion. Sometimes I get calls about old people wanting to report them, and it's for things that you never would expect people to fall for. Like I heard of someone buying hundreds of dollars in gift cards because they were told that they won the Publishers Clearing House sweepstakes and they needed to send that in to claim their prize. Like that was bad enough, but when they mentioned later that they didn't even enter, I was like...
