Most maga posters seem like they are just shit posting. I feel like there should be at least one guy who's serious right?

As someone who originally came from a conservative background, I highly doubt there are any more then a few. When I first got here in the 2000's, the atmosphere was very jarring, politically. There was a lot of different ideas that were far different then how I was raised. I spoke my mind, like I always do and I got regularly moderated for saying "offensive" things. I argued with a lot of people. Eventually two things happened. One, a lot of my stances changed to the opposite side politically and Two, I got better at discussion and debate and also learned to pick my battles, because not everything is worth arguing about. My point in saying this is I imagine a lot of Conservative posters get scared away from Gamefaqs discussion boards because I do think it is a very Left-Leaning site.

the problem is, the positions of "legitimate conservatives" have skewed so much over the last 6 years that we're neck deep in Poe's Law as a country.

Me. Though I feel like some or most of my political beliefs are more on the liberal side. So I'm a conservative but not those shitty MAGA people.

I agree that there are some anti woke type people who complain about entertainment. But they are generally quiet when the topic is like... abortion or immigration. The things that conservatives in real life complain about.

Not to say that those people don't complain about wokeness in real life too. But you know what I mean. Overtly political topics.

I was considered a conservative on this board for 10 years until Trump got elected.

After Trump got elected Admiral threw a big fit about how I used to be cool cause I wasnt falling for Trumps shit.

Guess Im "anti-woke".
Dont really have an alignment but yes my entertainment is kind of what makes my life more exciting.

You say people dont complain about wokeness in real life but here I am and my Mexican co-workers talking about how, no we dont want to be called Latinx. You even have Disney+ labeling their Hispanic media as "Latinx".

As for babies, abort as many babies as needed, not like we need more people around when the ones who are here arent living the optimal life. I think the immigration laws exist for a reason but Im not really treating an illegal immigrant any different from any other human. Honestly though its never on my mind, just focusing on trying to improve life for myself.

There are a few, but they generally get drowned out by the alt right shitposters.

CE has tons of bad faith posters who always respond to posts that aren't 100% left leaning with either "whose alt?" Or "tag checks out"

People are so concerned with seeking out dog whistles that they're hearing things that just aren't there

As a bisexual person, I find the constant need to diversify characters in games a bit misguided. I've never seen a bisexual character in a game I could even mildly relate to and I don't care. I stopped looking for validation from media a long time ago.

This stuff is really only helpful to younger people who don't have as strong of an identity yet. There is certainly some value to that, but people really overrate the influence.

Of course, if you don't react with 100% support for diversity in games then people act like you're a MAGA. People don't want to acknowledge any sort of nuance, because it exposes them to the reality that the world isn't so simple.

To many, you're either 100% in support of diversity or you're same racist, knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, MAGA hat wearing idiot.

Anyway, to answer the topic, it's not a terribly simple thing to "label" someone as a conservative, "legit" or otherwise. By their very nature, conservatives tend to speak out less.

And never trust someone when they tell you what political leaning they are. In my experience 90% of the time their posting style belies what they say they identify as.

Inversely, my advice is "don't tell people what you are, demonstrate what you are".

If for no other reason than the fact that no one has the same exact definition for what a political leaning means, so you're bound to be misinterpreted.

A good memory plus judicious use of the tagging system.

Another thing I've noticed on these boards is that someone will say something that clarifies their values (often to their detriment), and then they'll rely on the fact that posts go away and people forget and just assume no one remembers and try to figure they have a fresh slate and use that to their advantage.
