Yes. Hot ass Olivia Wilde and she is amazing in that movie. Why we never got a sequel is beyond me.

Saw it last night. It works if you've never seen or played a video game before, but otherwise requires a lot of suspension of disbelief or disregarding of basic programming lol (stealing the video clip lol)

Wasn't a bad movie and got a lot better towards the end, The Dude was pretty funny

I watched it with my friends and we were totally derailed by when Guy says something like "Wow, it's like having sex in my mouth!" the first time he buys a coffee. That's supposed to be a line from when he's a normal NPC too.

We had a lot of criticisms of it but I can't remember any of it too well anymore. Looking back at the stuff we typed in our group chat:

• There's a really uncomfortable scene where the black guy gropes Dude sexually and it's played for laughs
• The IRL male protag is introduced as an asshole who's fucking with Guy but then later they want you to sympathize with him
• Plot structure is similar to all those live action adaptation movies of animated animal mascots like Woody Woodpecker or The Chipmunks where the villain is a corporate "I LOVE MONEY!" caricature
• The part where Guy beats Dude by just using a bunch of Marvel references with the exact sound clips to boot was a huge eyeroll and felt super lazy
• There's a point where there's a cliche climactic "Guy lost his way but kissing the girl restores him" scene and we checked the time and there was still a third of the movie left somehow, the pacing is insane
• One upside is the character design of Dude is amazing because of that underwear

I didn't like taika waititi being a bad guy though. It's like, how do they expect me to root against him? I love the guy in everything it's so hard.

But yeah overall incredibly fun movie, very enjoyable, Ryan Reynolds was great, and I loved every minute of it. Always love when I'm surprised by a movie I knew nothing about

The bit with Chris Evans made me laugh so fucking hard I loved it. Really made me appreciate one of the few perks of Disney's crazy empire, moments like that.

The star wars stuff not so much I can leave it at the doorstop but I understand that franchise has its fans so I grin and bear it

Channing Tatum's recent comedy roles and cameos have been straight up fire. Dude went from annoying and not awesome to awesome and hilarious.

I really enjoyed the movie. It didn't try to be anything more than a family-friendly comedy about a guy in a video game world. And I thought it achieved that.

Like others have said, the Chris Evans cameo was extremely well-done. What made it so great was how sudden it was and how quickly it went away in a blink-and-you-miss it sort of way. The timing was amazing.

Reynold's character, Guy, worked for the movie. He was literally just a nice guy trying to survive in a world full of jaded and violence-loving people. He was just trying to show that it wasn't "lame" to be nice to people in a video game and I think it conveyed the message nicely.

The kissing scene with Guy and the female protag was hilarious. Her IRL reaction to the virtual kiss was priceless, made even more amazing by the follow-up conversation with her friend where he's like "is there even a button for that?" and she's like "oh he found the button". Such as simple exchange but made the scene even funnier.
