What are some restaurants that have gone out of a business or are least close down many locations that you miss.

For me it is the Great Steak and Potato that still exist in a few places but not like they use to. They have THE best fries and I don't know what they did to make them so good. They were just like Potatoes cook in oil. But they were better then anything you could do at home.

There was a local restaurant that had the absolute best buffalo cajun chicken sandwich I ever had. It's been 10 years since they were open, and I still haven't found a suitable replacement.

It's a chain, but in Boston on Boylston street, there used to be an Uno there. Every year during Anime Boston, for maybe 10ish years, my friends and I had a tradition to go there for Thursday night pre-con dinner. A few years back, it shut down. It hurt to see those memories go with it.

Only other place I can think of is in a city South of Boston. There was a place called Cristo's in Brockton long, long ago. It was a restaurant that people all over knew of. The owner ended up dying and the kids didn't want to manage such a huge restaurant anymore. Eventually, the building was torn down and they bought a small take out shop in a neighboring town. I still remember going into that restaurant and getting mints and seeing that big black sliding waitstaff door.

Thankfully for places that are smaller, but with great food, all of the places I can think of locally are still intact, and for good reason. If you make great food, you'll keep regular customers. It's just how it works.

I don't know if they are closed down everywhere, but these are two I miss from my childhood that I don't see anymore.

I remember seeing the Great Steak and Potato place at mall food courts.

I miss this local Mexican restaurant. I had the best tacos and enchiladas and the prices were incredibly cheap.

Used to have a Quiznos right next to where I work. That place was the best. I don't even know if they're still in business.

A local pizza place called Pizza Italiana. Not only great pizza, but the best breadsticks too.

Old Country / Hometown Buffet. There was one in a nearby city, but it closed down over a decade ago. Used to go there quite a bit as a kid.

Too damn many?

Of the stuff that's just kinda gone, probably Bennigan's... although apparently the brand was bought years later and now they're operating in at least a few areas.

In the last 10 or 15 years, there are maybe 40-60 restaurants that closed that I miss, including locations of chains (where the chain itself is also shrinking) and solo operations. Meanwhile everything I dislike remains.

Marie Calender's.

tbh, didn't realize that was an actual place, only ever saw it as a freezer brand.

I also miss having a Quiznos. Prices sucked, but great food. Unlike Subway where the prices suck and the food sucks.

Steak and Shake.

There used to be 6 locations close by, but then they all closed except for 1 that is now online order only. I used to love going there when i was a teen. Then something happened and it all shut down. The quality of workers went downhill super fast too. People actively fighting on the line and blasting loud ass music on their phones with 0 supervision. People kept getting their CC info stolen and having it traced back to the one location.

It was just really really sad.

I didn't realize I missed Kenny Roger's Roasters until I went to one that is still open in the Philippines.

Although, it was better there than I remember it being here, so maybe they're just doing it better. Kind of like how KFC there isn't as dogshit as it is here.

i've wanted a Rax Mushroom Melt for years. they're not 100% closed, but the only ones left are several hours away.

there was a local pizza place (Unique Pizza) that used a cheese mix that i've never tasted anywhere else, but they closed before they told me what it was.

Gumby's Pizza in Columbus was a staple when i was there. easily the best cheesy bread i've ever had. Beekman's Bagels were awesome, too, though i only made the walk there a few times.

The House of Hunan in Waupun Wisconsin. It was uncannily good, and despite traveling all over the country I've not ever found anything like it.

I miss it dearly.
