Molly Hair, a social worker from Missouri, has racked up over 6 million TikTok views in the last three days for digitally blasting a would-be love interest who called her the C-word in a text message he meant to send to a friend just moments before their initial rendezvous in June. I was on my way to a first date and this happened, Hair, 26, penned in the close-captions of her viral post that she sarcastically titled Chivalry is alive. A screenshot of her dopey dates ill-fated text served as the clips backdrop. Waiting on this c***, the guys accidental message read. I took a pinch for confidence, he continued, suggesting that he might have downed a swig of alcohol or ingested some other soothing substance in order to dull his first date jitters. But the mysterious pinch of whatever it was that was supposed to make him seem cool only caused him to text like a fool.

Omg I was joking with a buddy, he wrote immediately after realizing his boneheaded blunder. Im just going to leave, he added, emphasizing his embarrassment with two shameful face-palm emojis. The guy then lavished an abject apology onto Hair, saying, Omg I dont really think [of you as the C-word] at all I joke too much I say st like that just to say it. I completely understand if this is over. He went on to phone her a few times, apparently hoping to somehow salvage their evening. But she ignored the calls. Instead, Hair politely responded with: Yeah to be honest Im not really comfortable meeting anymore. I just dont really feel like its okay to call women that even as a joke and I see it as a red flag sorry! And even after she gave him a nice thanks-but-no-thanks send-off, the guy continued badgering with non-stop texts. He even blamed God for his messy messaging misstep. Im really fucking sorry Molly in no way shape or form that I think of you that way I talk too much and Im not as funny as I think. Im not trying to reconcile but I do want to apologize sincerely Im sorry. I missed out Im sure, he lamented. Im sick to my stomach just thinking about it, [it is] Gods plan I guess. I was so excited to see you I was just trying to be funny with Joe omg. Hair assured him that she had accepted his apology, suggested he consider the snafu a teachable moment and wished him a good week. But he kept on texting. The sleazy wordsmiths repeated pleas for Hairs affections rolled over into the next month. He even sent a Hail Mary Hey message on Oct. 30 in the hopes shed be willing to give their love another shot. And Hair now wishes she would have blocked the bozo as soon as she received his tasteless text. I was probably way too nice in rejecting him, she said on TikTok, noting that she views his persistent attempts to re-establish their relationship as a cautionary red flag. The social worker in me just wants to help people learn and grow from their mistakes, she added. I probably should have just ignored him.
