7/10

Worst of the P3/P4/P5 set by a wide margin IMO.

Inaba is perhaps the best realized setting of a videogame ever. I have never wanted to "live" in a videogame more.

Of all the sweet video game settings you want to live in a basic rural town?

Snarkiness aside I thought Inaba felt pretty empty and uneventful after playing Persona 5 first. There really isn't much to do imo and there's like 5 areas

the fact that people hate on Inaba (and particularly Yukiko's desire to stay there at the end of her S. Link) is weird to me

Inaba is great because it's a basic rural town. Every single NPC has their own plotline that lasts the entire game, and you feel like you know everybody in town by the end of the game, which is what it should feel like to be in a small town.

Persona 5 almost has too much to do, to the point that there's a ton of stuff I just never did or maybe did once and then never bothered with it again, which also captures what it's like to live in a big city. They both accomplish the appropriate atmosphere pretty well.

But those opinions can be bad for bad reasons.
Didn't you give Celeste a 1/10 because you skipped the story?

Just because I gave a game that has clearly focused all its assets on gameplay a 1, doesn't mean I skipped the story.

this is also the guy who felt the need to drop his score on a game because he thought the overall average was going to be higher than it deserved

so yes he's proving his own point that bad opinions can be bad for bad reasons

Nah dude. If I did bad biased opinions for bad reasons I'd have scored RE4 a 10 and given every single indie game a 1 for how inflated their scores end up being.

It does capture the atmosphere pretty well. It probably felt a lot more impressive coming from P3 than from P5, too. I don't mean to hate on Inaba, it just felt pretty limited (which is to be expected honestly!)

I don't like rural settings most of the time. I prefer urban settings.

yea same but that's probs coz i've lived in London my whole life. Persona 5, VTMB and TWEWY used the big city setting really well, which is probs helped in me liking them as much as i did.

This probably would have been a 10 or 9.5 for me a year or two after release. Persona 4 has weirdly not aged too well. I've got too many minor nitpicks with some of the characters and the spinoffs make the game feel less special. That said it still meets my standards for gr8ness! The mystery is fun as a dramatic element if maybe not as an actual whodunnit, and I think the game's structure really enhances that. In particular the midgame and last few dungeons really make full use of the setting, story and gameplay structure, and themes.

I generally prefer urban settings, but Inaba is a really good rural setting. I don't think P3 or P5's settings feel like anything special in comparisan.
