I didn't like his character in God of Wars 1-3.

he was a terrible person, who did terrible things, but when the consequences of those actions came up, he blamed others for them.

in God of War 2018, they did the remarkable by actually getting me to like Kratos' character in a way that felt consistent with his past iterations.

That's what makes him great, gow3 was an awesome game then they neutered him in 4.

You're not supposed to like him in the Greek pantheon games. That's kind of the point. He's just a raging animal lashing out against the gods that repeatedly screwed him over. The gods were not good people. And just because you're fighting against something horrible doesn't mean you are inherently better yourself.

The newest installment is meant to show that he's trying to change. He's trying to let go of his anger and just live peacefully with his son. Then the gods screw him over again, and he has to go back on the rampage, but this time he's not doing it out of revenge or hatred. He's doing it to protect someone else. And he's much more measured and rational about it.

Frankly, I think he's a fantastic character.

Being a piece of shit warmonger that stole away his own happiness is kind of his thing. At best, he had the edgy cool factor that's likeable without making him a likeable person.

I like him in Fortnite.
