I don't mean balance in terms of who is the best, just in terms of how most of the powers come with drawbacks or requirements, IE, Momo requiring lipids, Aoyama getting a stomachache, Tokoyami being affected by the time of day, etc. I felt like it was an interesting approach to superpowers, and a lot of characters have different drawbacks or need certain conditions to use their powers optimally. I always felt like that was a really strong aspect of it.

I'm glad All Might isn't an evil Superman. I thought that was the direction they were heading when I first saw his design, but he's actually a true hero. It's nice when the big good really is big good and inspiring. His face being in shadow all the time did throw me off tho.

Aizawa is beat to hell but nothing the school nurse with the healing kisses can't fix up lol

The super strong guy with the exposed brain, I'm thinking "just rip that bitch out"

I'm having trouble internalizing these names for some reason lol. But Icy-Hot's real name is Todoroki. And shirtless redhead is Kirishima. And that cavalry moment was badass. Got legit scared for All Might there when he got grabbed by his weak spot.

They know how to create tension. I have no idea how All Might gets out of this one.

Wtf, is that McCree?! Or Cole Cassidy now lol. Is this guy basically Deadshot because that was quite a clutch save.

Tenya returned with the teachers! And man was that a badass rescue. I'm curious if the principal can do more than be a weasel-badger-thing.

Nice ending, hinting at things to come.

Well that's the first season! Overall, I'd say it was quite good. Kinda dipped in the middle but finished strong. If I had to give it a rating, I'd say 7.5/10. The one thing this show does well is its characters. Their looks, their powers are all very dynamic. And I'm interested to see more of this world. I'm gonna take a break for a bit, but I def plan to continue into season 2!

The USJ fight is what hooked me. They build up All Might as almost a myth, but it's hard to see how he's any better than a normal hero until that fight.

It really shows that even long past his prime he's on an entirely different level than any other hero.

She basically defended him saying he hasn't learned how to express his feelings and whatnot and that he's just insecure. And she also blamed him mom. I'm sure that's true, but that does NOT excuse him. I still hold him accountable for it.

So many people are quick to say 'it's his mom' and I never understood why. His mom tells it like it is pretty much when All Might comes to visit. Dude had a great quirk and got lucky, so people always fawned over him. Bakugo's entire reason for being an asshole is because people put him on a pedestal his entire life. It's not like his mom hitting him in the back of the head(a Japanese trope and used for comic relief) is meant to be taken as serious. But people do it because it means he's not truly a monster, they can shift blame. People did the same stuff with Sasuke for years just to justify his antics despite the show laying out exactly why he is doing what he does.

So, in essence, they're pretty much doing exactly what got him to be such an ass: excusing his behavior and putting him on a pedestal. Ironic af.

Season 2 is pretty good. Season 3 has some of the best fights and character building moments. Season 4 is easily my favorite season. Season 5 is just fun overall from where alI left off.

I am thoroughly enjoying the whole series and haven't seen much of a decline.

2 is great, 3 has a great first half, 4...depends, if you're more into the action you'll prefer the first half, if you're more into the school you'll prefer the second, 5 has a boring first half and a poorly adapted second half (which is a shame because one of the arcs in said second half is one of my favorites in the manga)

All Might's real name is Toshinori Yagi. I thought he was American given how similar he is drawn to how anime draws American men. Guess he's just an Ameriboo. I'm intrigued about what the backstory for One For All might be since he says he inherited it from someone too. Is it possible he too was born without a Quirk?

Shigaraki being a manchild is believable since he seems to have seen the whole thing as a game.

I like Jiro's vibe.

The Sports Festival is that important, that it replaced the Olympics? I suppose in a world where 80% of the population is superhuman, Olympics wouldn't seem that special.

Of course Bakugo makes an enemy of all the other classes but he didn't have to drag the rest of class 1-A with him.

Todoroki is def one of the cooler (no pun intended) characters. Quickly rising to the top. Bakugo is still at the bottom like the trash he is.

This wouldn't surprise me, even if I know it's not true.

You could remove one or the other and still form a coherent story including having a rival and everything. Bakugo and Todoroki tend to be around each other all the time too.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the characters but the show doesn't need to focus so heavily on both of them AND Midoriya.

Or maybe I just like all the 1-A students too much lol.

iirc Tetsutetsu's name is spelled with four different characters that all mean different things but all are homophones of the Japanese word for iron (tetsu obviously)

The B students show up a bit after this. Especially Kendo. The show loves putting her in scenes, but as per usual don't expect much development from any of the female side characters. And the ones that do get development, that's a fucking rarity.

They do get cool scenes though!

I have to say, even tho I'm expecting Midoriya to win, being main character and all, part of me is also rooting for Todoroki. He just wants to impress his daddy. Plus Endeavor looks mean so there may be consequences for him if he doesn't win.

The first half of Season 5 pits Class A against Class B, but that's essentially teamwork and combat training between five teams of four from each class, not a tournament.

it's not only One For All though -- every quirk contains the personalities of its past users; though this is only ever seen by a couple people since most quirks (presumably the vast majority) only ever have one user

lol Persona guy barely lasted against Poison Ivy chick.

Iida vs Hatsume was hilarious. She treated the entire thing like a commercial for her gadgets and that's literally all she wanted. I like this girl, she's so fun. Actually, I'm liking the female characters much more than the male ones. Of the males, I'm really only into Midoriya and Todoroki, but every single female character so far, I've really enjoyed. Too bad this is shonen which means the guys will get all the focus.

Aoyama having belly button laser is certainly a twist on the laser powers trope. Guess eyes or hands have been to death, so how else to make laser beams interesting?

I like how quick these fights are. No need to drag them out like Dragonball.

Still would like to know why Todoyami's head is a bird. Poor Momo.

Rock vs Steel. lol Mineta isn't interested in this fight since it's just dudes. Ended pretty much how I thought it would.

Ochako and Bakugo next, Kick his ass, Ochako.

Ochako's motivation is pure, just like her. Just wants to help mommy and daddy. Whereas Bakugo just wants selfish glory.

WELL. That was amazing. Can't really properly describe it. But that was an intense fight with an outcome I didn't expect. Really wonder where Midoriya and Todoroki go now.
