Or on the flip side, for people who watch it but dont read it differentiating by season makes more sense than by story arc. For any anime that Ive watched but not read I couldnt tell you what any of the arcs are called, but I could tell you what happened in each season.

story arcs are generally named according to either the location they're set in (e.g. "Sabaody Archipelago" in One Piece) or some major event that happens in them (e.g. "Culture Festival" or "Meta Liberation Army" in My Hero Academia)

1. Aizawa can't actually remove quirks; he just suppresses them
2. he has to have his eyes open to use his quirk, and he has to be looking at the person whose quirk he is suppressing
3. many people are competent fighters without using their quirks

it is a strong quirk though. it's actually relevant to the plot that it's a strong quirk

Deku's an okay protag so far, not really breaking any new ground as far as shonen protags go, but I find myself more interested in the world around him than he himself at the moment.

You'll probably enjoy the anime then. There's a lot of world building and fleshing out side characters. A lot of people complain whenever we get episodes like that because they just want more Midoriya, but I like that we learn so much about everyone else.

Aizama's power to remove a Quirk goes away when he blinks. That explains the red eyes. I thought that was just an artistic choice lol

Costume time! Now they're looking like the characters I know. And lol at the random rap music. These designs are so cool and part of what made MHA stand out to me. Even Adult Middle Schooler's costume is cool-looking. Deku's is kinda lame in comparison but there's a reason for that at least. But I can't look at Deku's jumpsuit without thinking of Squid Game now >_>

Momo's costume doesn't look school-appropriate but the kid in the diaper seems to approve.

I just realized now that it's been awhile since we've seen a fight. Typical shonen pacing. But it's good to see Deku's training pay off and Bakugo get slammed like the douche he is. Of course the episode ends before the fight beings. Again, typical shonen pacing.

But I'm glad we're getting the big rival fight out of the way early so we can get to more interesting characters quicker.

Momo's quirk is most effectively utilized by having as much skin exposed as possible.

Also there is a minor plot point about women heroes balancing their quirks with having inappropriate costumes.

Ok, that was a clever move. I enjoyed that fight. Bakugo still sucks tho, even if his powers are cool. I like Ochako, she seems like a real sweetheart. And Deku's growing on me.

The next ep is more Bakugo? Great.

Deku has the best character development. From whiny kid to absolute badass, imo anyway. Even if he has his 'ha ha crying lmao' joke moments still.

Why do I expect to hear Bakugo say "Kakarot!"

Is Momo the "smart upperclassman" archetype? Is she gonna have a flock of fangirls following her around? If not, she should.

Is the invisible girl naked without her gloves and boots? So she's, um, bouncing in the breeze full time? >_> Ookay

Dupli-Arms is definitely on the body-horror side of Quirkdom. Gross.

This half-ice guy is like an Ice Terminator. Knew he would be a badass. And he's a half-heat guy too? Now his design makes sense. Once again, I love the MHA character designs.

Why are we getting flashback to what happened in the last episode

Official introductions! I am not gonna remember their names. Still loling at the kid with a bird's head.

Persona-looking kid tried to ask out Ochako but she ditches him once Deku's in the picture. You shot your shot and missed, happens to the best of us, king.

Aw snap, finally see the villains, of course, in a villain bar. Was wondering when I'd start to see some.

But the next episode is gonna be about that adult middle schooler. Lame.

So far characters I like: Deku, Ochako, Pink girl, frog girl, Icy-Hot dude, All Might, Momo
Characters I don't like: Bakugo, Engine legs

I'll learn their names eventually.

Kirishima is the best side character.

Watched Ep 9 on my break!

I give Tenya shit for looking like an adult, but thinking about it, Deku is the only character that actually looks his age, maybe even younger. At least it's not as bad as Bleach and Jojo where their 15 year olds are 6 feet, buff, and with mature faces. Also it was funny seeing all the other characters talking shit about Bakugo, so at least he isn't part of the "ultra cool fighter everyone admires" part of the rival character trope.

And we finally get to see the villains and damn what an entrance, just a straight up invasion. Look forward to episode 10!

Agreed completely. I was worried he would be Sasuke, but it seems the author is a better writer than Naruto's author in that respect.

MHA shines in its world, how it balances its powers, and its side cast, IMO. The story has a tendency to meander a bit, and a lot of arcs are hit or miss, but the overall show is fun enough that it's a really fun ride.

Best characters, at least the ones introduced early on:
Aoyama/belly button laser.
Todoroki/hot & cold.
Tokoyami/bird head.

Fun fact with Aoyama: he has a running gag where he's camera aware and will often pose for the camera in background shots and stuff. It's really funny, and it's worth looking out for because it happens a lot.

Yeah, I noticed how quickly everyone was friendly with Deku. I expected him to be a social outcast until he proved himself, like lots of other protags, but seeing everyone like him already for being a nice guy was pretty sweet. And Bakugo will be easier to tolerate if most people continue to dunk on him lol. So glad he isn't a Sasuke.

Bakugo gets his moments, but he doesn't really improve until a specific season. Some stuff happens that really improves his character. I'm not gonna spoil it, but it's a really nice moment.

Kirishima likes him right off the bat, yes. But Kirishima is just a nice guy overall. Mina especially is just friends with everyone, that's kinda her whole shtick. And Denki and him don't really become friends until later on, I think around the time of the provisional licenses when Denki kinda just says 'hey, I'm gonna tag along' is kinda when they cement their friendship.

I wouldn't say anyone but Kirishima was actually his friend in the beginning. As of the most recent episode I watched(I just got to MVA), everyone's cool with him now, mostly due to Bakugo actually learning how to not be a dumbass and working with his teammates.

It is a slow build to Bakugo actually getting friends, which I like. He isn't just flooded with people bowing before him because he's cool or whatever dumb shit they felt like doing in Naruto with Sasuke.

So Mineta is one of those characters. Well, I hope it's not his only character trait at least. >_> Glad to see Tsuyu in action finally, she's one of the more interesting looking characters. I like how she tells it like it is.

Mineta looks like a baby, I don't think I'll ever take him seriously.

lmao, Warp-man called out the heroes' tendency to discuss their plans in front of the enemy. Would have better if he attacked right as they were talking to really make fun of that cliche.

Tsuyu jumping high and long tongue I expected, but being able to spit out her own stomach? She really is a frog person. I'm fine never seeing that specific power.

I expected Mineta's Quirk to be lame but not that lame hahaha

it's a specialized martial art that he trained in for a long time to be able to do it. there's a plot point later on where he helps someone else learn

Yeah, and the reason for that was because Bones, in all their wisdom, decided to not only put so much focus on the Joint Training Arc and rearrange the Endeavor Agency Arc and MVA in terms of airing episodes, but also make MVA much shorter when it's longer than both the Endeavor Agency Arc and the Joint Training Arc. Who cares about Spinner's backstory or setting up the Meta Liberation Army in a satisfactory manner, we gotta make sure we set things up for that third movie that's going to theaters!

So it wasn't a joke that if Mineta uses too much of his rubber(?) hair balls he starts bleeding. His power is less funny now. :(

Icy-Hot is the cool character Bakugo wishes he was. Maybe he shoulda been the rival!

This chick with headphone jacks in her hair is cool. MHA has a lot of cool girls in it. Electric guy looks like Yosuke from Persona 4.

Momo lol well can't say her Quirk isn't useful.

That...looked like it hurt...and poor Thirteen.

That was a lot happening and Mr. Hands (dunno his real name yet lol) is a very creepy dude with a creepy-ass design. They're starting strong with the first big bad. Ready to see All Might kick his ass next.
