I've watched playthroughs of RE7 and RE8 and I am just not a fan of the first person perspective for whatever reason. I even like tank camera+controls over it.

7 took a little to get used to, but the shit is scary as fuck, especially in VR

It's ok. I remember when it first came out though i was like...I hope this is not the new norm for the rest of RE.

It's like when people play horror games in mid day with a bunch of background noise or they're constantly doing other things to take their attention away from build up and then being like "That's not scary. You guys are dumb". There's no tension when you're not the one controlling where to go and when. Games are made with that in mind, unlike movies that work around you not influencing anything going on.

I agree, you definitely have to make the atmosphere for them. RE2 was the first game that ever truly scared me. The slicker over the window in the beginning and the dog jumping out of the interview room. I dropped the controller and said GOD DAMNNNNNNNN!

Which I get, because no one came to RE to play a full game of over the top action. That's usually reserved for the end after a very well paced build up. But once you see it as just a dumb fun action game, the mercenaries mode is one the most potent action fixes you canget from any game anywhere. I put 100s of hours into it without going online.

Btw, I watch horror games on youtube too. So I know the experience difference. I just don't watch the big ones Im excited for. If I see a really good indie game played, I end up feeling like I experienced it wrong and missed out lol. I try to just stick to watching dumb ones.

I don't look online for tips on games and I get accustom to using what I already know. So there were strategies and moves I didn't know there for my first 100 hours lol. Like sliding through a crowd while placing C4 and then blowing it up at the end of your slide. There's just so many tools as your disposal. It's not MGS5 because you're just in small areas. But nobody topped it in it's specific field. Also, just ignore using cover in Mercs. I forget it's even a thing until people complain.
