I'm serious, this is creepy. You have an obsessive catalog of everything I've posted on a dying video game message board. Did I do something to you that made you want revenge? I mean, dog eating is still a big thing in Korea? That's not on opinion, it's just... a thing that happens. Nah, my post was completely relevant to the topic. People who overuse and openly support the word are almost always racist, yourself being a great example. lol ad hominem as if the word weeb itself isn't an ad hominem with your justifications to use it being ad hominems. Although given that you seem to regularly forget your own words it might be you're just not completely all there upstairs.

I mean, the fact that Japanese media got a term for that in the first place is kind of telling when there isn't a specific term for interest in any other ethnic cultures. I guess black people did have "oreos" and "smores" but no one uses them because it's blatantly racist. The point is that when you give a negative label to someone who has an interest in a different culture, you're also implying the different culture is bad. Honestly, when you think about it it's actually more of an insult to the culture than the person since you're implying the white person/westerner should be above the foreign culture. I mean, even tamer things like "I don't speak ramen/moon signs" isn't going to look well in real life, let alone an explicitly derogatory term. Might be part of the reason why it's really an internet only term.

I mean it's very possible to not be a fan of a certain part of the culture while still not thinking your culture is superior to the other culture (like I said, that's not to say there are people who don't do this. I've been to anti-social justice channels that said it was a good thing the whites wiped out the Native Americans because their culture is superior, I had a fun time getting dog piled on his comment section lol). My closets friend grew up from Compton and worked his ass off to get out of his neighborhood because it embraced the "thug culture" (he put it that way, not me) which he hated a lot. Just because he doesn't like the "thug culture" aspect doesn't mean he is a self hating black person that hates all of "black culture" in general. In fact he would even call me the "N" word and explained that because it's a sign of endearment and that I'm pretty much his "brotha from 'nother motha".

What I'm trying to get at is that yes I recognize it as a derogatory term if used incorrectly, but I still don't see it as racist.

Recently, you were talking about enjoying Melty Blood but had to add a disclaimer of "despite all the weeby things" as if its anime aesthetic is a negative you had to make clear you don't approve of. idk, I've just got that impression that you do this a lot. I guess since you do have an anime reference in your sig it's more believable that it's sarcasm but this whole "Japanese media is a guilty pleasure" sentiment is part of what I'm talking about

This is what I was trying to get at when it comes to not liking certain parts of things. For instance, I like anime but I don't normally watch stuff like things that are heavy in pervy fanservice, the generic wish fulfillment isekais, husbando/waifu stuff, etc. Anyways for that particular post, it was mostly how I get into fighting games, for me to like it needs to have good gameplay with characters I can connect with, which was something I couldn't do with Melty Blood. I eventually found a character I liked, but stopped playing it because the rollback was implemented pretty badly on its netcode.

But yeah you did catch me using it incorrectly, which I fully own up to,so I will try to be more specific about what I like/dislike about something to avoid giving the impression I prefer western stuff over eastern stuff because that couldn't be further from the truth.

Fair enough. I agree that is shitty and a societal issue. Although I think you should be able to relate this to how anime and eastern influences are changed and mocked to be more appealing to western audience as well and how the term weeb is an example of that.

Are they? Nintendo is going full on anime with their games and I've yet to see anime and eastern influences trying to be more appealing to western audiences. Heck, Squid Games is full on Korean and it is getting nothing but praise. If you're talking about people making Japanese/Asian things because it's not western, it might be for very specific things and that's mostly opinions. If they literally think Western culture is superior to Asian culture, then yes they're idiots and thats when I can see the racism tones kick in.

There's an entire discussion about how there's implicit racism against Japanese media and in many cases East Asians in general including many weebs being racist themselves being addressed which you've read since you've referenced reading the posts but can't expect a proud racist who supports anti-asian jokes, uses racist stereotypes, and doesn't consider Asians people of color to understand.

It's definitely a very 'American' thing to do.
