Do you think what this company did for the live autopsy was legal?

98 y/o WW2 Veteran, David Saunders of Baton Rouge, Louisiana Died from COVID-19 DONATED his body to MEDICAL SCIENCE and received an undisclosed sum only for it to be DISSECTED in a LIVE AUDIENCE where people spent 500 a ticket to watch at a Portland Marriot Hotel Ballroom!!

The body was sliced open and examined before a paying crowd in the room came to see a "cadaver class" put on by a group called Death Science as part of an Oddities and Curiosities Event that was opened to all members of the public and reserved solely for scientists with a professional interest in autospy

But his 92 y/o wife, Elsie blasted the autospy stating she had no idea her husband's body would be used for a "pay per view" autopsy and condemned the event and says she's considering legal action over his remains being treated like a piece of meat for entertainment

A lawyer tells Dailymail that Elsie could have a strong cae in civil court against both the company to whom she donated her husband's remains as well as Death Science

He served as a US Merchant Marine on the SS Mayo Brothers liberty ship during WW2 with supplies vessel deployed in European and Pacific waters

His corpse ended up here after it was donated for profit firm Med Ed Labs in Las Vegas who sold the remains to a macabre artist and Death Science founder Jeremy Ciliberto

He said they bought the corpse from the party full knowing it was going to be used for research but the Las Vegas based firm said they thought it was going to be used to teach med students

Grim Video footage showed an undercover journalist the autopsy as his body is being dissected to watchers who paid $500 to watch

Dr. Colin Henderson, a retired professor did the autopsy as he used a surgical knife to cut into the body as he told audience members this was how he taught medical students in his academic career on an autopsy as his expertise is on that emphasizes the physiological ecology of insect and mammalian diet selection relative to plant biochemical defenses.

Their lawyers are fighting back claiming his widow consented to the pay per view autopsy and has no claim and even if she didn't, the body was used for medical research which she signed off on and she would breach the contract claims against Med Ed Labs and will fight against her claims.

Do you think what these people did was legal?

DONATED his body to MEDICAL SCIENCE
Beginning and end of the conversation. People need to mind their own fucking business. It's not their body.

It's not exactly a secret that this often happens to tissues/bodies/etc of people that consented to such; this is made clear when you consent to such donations (having done it myself). Note that organ donation to save lives and donation for education/medical science are consented to separately, so she really has no excuse.

No seriously, why is she so shocked that a body donated to medical science/education would be used in this way? It's quite common. They signed off on it.

Ridiculous.

The fucked up thing is that I don't think it's illegal at all. It's like that old woman who donated her body "to science", and it ended up being used as explosion test dummy by the US Army.

What exactly did they think was going to happen? They've been having autopsies like this for educational purposes for as long as there has been medical professionals.

Voted No, though I don't like how the question is framed as a violation of her rights, instead of the deceased's...

Shit like that will cause a lot of people to refuse to agree to donating their body that may have otherwise done so.

They thought it'd be used for educational purposes by medical professionals/students that are held to confidentiality oaths?
Instead of whatever random sick yokels paid out $500 to "see a show"?

This is Peak Capitalism. It's utterly insane this even needs to have lawmakers step in let alone there's people defending it. But yeah, apparently we need regulations on what is and isn't "for science" when someone agrees to donate their body. So you know it actually will be used for education, and not as some pay-per-view side show or an army explosives test dummy.

Was it donated, or was he paid for his body like a geriatric hooker?

How do you think Leonardo da Vinci did his anatomical work?

Sure doesn't sound like it was educational for medical professionals.
The lab that his body was donated to and then sold it to the people putting on this show seem to think otherwise, too.
