I mean, if people could, they would probably do something similar to the 1%, much like what happened in France during the revolution, even the royal children were slaughtered

None of the children of Louis XVI were executed.

  • Sophie Hlne Batrice de France (1786-1787): died from unknown causes 2 years before the revolution (maybe "poor health", or tuberculosis or some other disease, records are not clear).
  • Louis-Joseph Xavier Franois de France (1781-1789): died from a series of health problems and diseases just before the revolution (in fact, his death probably delayed the revolution).
  • Louis-Charles de France (aka Louis XVII, 1785-1795): being the new heir after the death of his brother and declared the new king after the execution of their father with support from foreign monarchies wanting him to take the throne, he was imprisoned and died from Tuberculosis.
  • Marie-Thrse Charlotte de France (1778-1851): lived long enough to see the Napoleonian Empire, then the restoration of the Monarchy, and the second French revolution, died in exile.

Of those four, it could be possible to argue that Louis Charles was, as a ten year old, imprisoned in conditions unsuitable for a young child that resulted in or exacerbated his tuberculosis, but this would still be far from him being "slaughtered" by the revolutionaries.

It IS pretty bad when people downplay genocides, you are right, TC.

Pretty terrible whenever someone does that.

Good post Shab, I always heard it wasnt uncommon children of the nobility to be guillotined during the September massacres so just assumed it applied to the royal children as well
