Eh, it's really only an 8% difference (49 to 57 percent went Republican), and the fact is that Trump was fucking up hard in 2020, so that was bound to mean a less insane candidate would do better this year.

Literally "won't someone please think of the children" the campaign. That's where we're at now lol.

Republicans actual policy positions are highly unpopular in this country. Instead of changing course to match their positions in order to get votes, they just scare the shit out of everyone.

Have you guys heard about x? x is really scary! Don't worry though, a vote for me is a vote against x!

Then they use their power to enact highly unpopular tax cuts for the rich, benefit cuts for the poor, and skew the courts and state law in such a way that makes it easier for them to stay in power. Repeat. I mean, this country has always been shit right from the get go (Federalist 10, "tyranny of the majority", etc.) but the tactics of today are on a whole extra level. How is this not the top story on evening news every single night?
