"There was a box of dummy rounds and the box is labeled dummy. Hannah did take from that box which she by all accounts should have been able to rely on, that contains only dummy rounds," said Gutierrez Reed's lawyer Jason Bowles.

"She loaded rounds from that box into the handgun only to later find out -- and she had no idea -- she inspected the rounds, that there was a live round. Now we don't know, however, whether that live round came from that box. We're assuming it did. We're assuming somebody put the live round in that box, which if you think about that, the person who put the live round in the box of dummy rounds had to have the purpose of sabotaging this set. There's no other reason you would do that."

I actually started a thread suggesting this very thing. Its suspicious that a bullet happened to end up in a gun where the crew was pissed off and striking. Ultimately, it was probably an accident, but possible sabotage should be investigated by the police.

Blanks are a significantly cheaper way to get the bang bang noise and muzzle flash than doing it in editing.

Its unlikely but not impossible. Its more than possible somebody threw in a live round without completely weighing the consequences of their actions.

yeah, they want to be as realistic as possible. plus they use them to fire blanks in certain scenes. and yes, its stupid.

they just look and sound so fake in so many movies. Plus if they are real they must be heavy as hell to handle, especially if we are talking large rifles and stuff. Expecially for smaller actors or actresses.

She didn't check the guns, and the gun used was loaded BY HER with live ammo earlier that day for target practice. She has given an 8 year old a loaded gun as well.

This flimsy defense is desperate, she will soon be charged and convicted as she should be.

That being said, there are tons of prop gun types ranging from basically wooden sticks to actual firearms. Thats why the actor should really learn their way around it and not just trust the word of whoever handed it to them.

If the actor fucked up their handling of a gun they could potentially be solely reliable. It will always depend on the people giving them the weapon.

Same reason actors aren't doing vehicle stunts that put other people at risk.

This is a bad defense tbh. According to some reports they were shooting live rounds for fun on location in between shoots. Live rounds should never be on set. Whoever approved that fucked up and should be held accountable. It's mindboggling how many safety precautions they completely disregarded but having live rounds on set to begin with is like the number one fuck up here.

Backtracking their claim that the gun was unattended for hours. The gun was on the cart for less than 10 minutes. The claim that it was loaded with dummies cannot be true at all, Hannah used this gun for shooting beer cans in front of the crew with live ammo from the unmarked pouch, which clearly SHE brought on set. no one else had any weapons or reason to bring ANY type of bulets.

Several crew members have already givien interviews that she took people shooting with live ammo, and the gun in question was one of the ones used for it.

Why would you be able to mistake a dummy round for a real one? Shouldnt the dummy round be clearly marked/have a different colored tip so you cant make this mistake?

It's also super obvious if a round is a dummy/blank or FMJ/hollow point. Anyone familiar with firearms would be able to tell.

And she is the only one who has the expectation of being familiar with them, as it is literally her reason for being there. Random anti gun actors who clearly have never owned on have no expectation of telling the difference in weight or appearance ce between a live functional bullet and a dummy.

Yep totally agree. It's like expecting someone that isn't a car person to know the difference between engines just by opening the hood and looking.

I think its a far more sinister explanation than the more likely explanation that people were using that gun for target practice, they didnt properly unload it, they left it back on the cart and then someone picked it up, several people handled it with none of them checking it. Thats just a more likely explanation, Wolf told TheWrap-Up Podcast.
