I know Shad is like the only other person I know who's watched it, but if anybody else has, sound off. I'm still reeling from the finale.

Easily my favorite cartoon of the decade, honestly it's what set me on the path to check out so many of them. I agree completely about it being better than Avatar as well, which is no sleight on Avatar.

I've read hundreds of fanfics for it at this point <_<;

If you haven't checked out a lot of modern story driven cartoons I'd be happy to recommend some as well.

I ended up watching it because of Noelle Stevenson, and I enjoyed it for what it was. The show is clearly designed for pre-teens, so I'm a bit too old to get sucked into its rudimentary themes and ways that they create and resolve conflict, but the characters were likable, the voice work was great, and for a show with a much younger target audience, I found it to be quite funny.

Sure, go for it.

I mean, Avatar dealt with more serious themes, had better world-building and animation. But She-Ra has better characters and that goes for a lot.

The go to stuff for ongoing series are Amphibia and The Owl House.

And for finished stuff, or stuff that's not confirmed to continue: Infinity Train, Final Space, Steven Universe, Gravity Falls, Over the Garden Wall

Hopefully I'm not forgetting anything, just going off the top of my head here really.

Oh, and this is older, but if you haven't watched Adventure Time it truly is as good as people say.

I will absolutely second The Owl House and Infinity Train though; both are fantastic

Infinity Train in particular borders on like my top 10 shows ever

I have watched Adventure Time. I thought it was brilliant as well, but not quite at the top. I've watched most of Steven Universe.

I think it consistently ramps up. First season is the worst but not as much a slog to get through as Avatar book 1.

The Owl House was actually canceled last I heard though I think it still has episodes left to air

Owl House still has half of season 2 (10 episodes) and then 3 1-hour episodes after that.

It's incredibly popular but Disney executives are just not interested in shows with ongoing narratives anymore. They want a show an 8 year old can catch random episodes of and watch out of order. Definitely not possible with The Owl House and most of Amphibia.

Matt Bradley setting out a 3 season plan for Amphibia from the get go was a smart movie considering the channel is still grasping to cable's dying pulse with all their might. Dana Terrace took more of a risk and it's gonna get cut short as a result, but it still has a decent amount of time to clean up.

Also Disney hates the gays.

I've seen season 1 the most (4 times?) as a result of showing people the show, but it's definitely the weakest season even if I wouldn't actually call it weak. The dance episode is iconic lol.

I think you'll like episode 5, but episode 7 is where it picks up.

I loved Princesses of Power, but it didn't hold a candle to Avatar for me. Honestly I need to rewatch Avatar to see if it really holds up as well as my nostalgia says it does. I will say PoP has more replay value (I've watched the full series 3 times and have been tempted to watch it again- it's INSANE)!

I watched Avatar all the way through for the first time in the past year and yeah, it still holds up. However, the first season is pretty rough and doesn't get good until the finale with the north water kingdom which is also the first real story arc in the entire show! Season 2 is actually incredible, and then Season 3 is a mixed bag due to some very obvious and unfortunate issues, but is great despite them. Also the teen romance stuff is generally pretty awkward in a bad way, and I think kids' shows post-Avatar started to figure this out better thanks to it getting the ball rolling.

I'd put S1 of She-Ra over Avatar's pretty easy, BUT She-Ra's first season doesn't have anything quite as good as Avatar's finale arc. That's basically the perfect comparison of the two overall. Avatar has higher highs and lower lows, She-Ra is more consistent because it knows what it wants to do from the start and is allowed to do it. And both kinda have issues wrapping up the series.
