Over the past few days it'll just randomly freeze completely and the only way to stop it is to hold the power button.

Ran some virus and malware scans and no threats were found.

Is there some cmd thing I can run to pinpoint what the issue could be?

Have you looked at the telemetry from the task manager?

Questionmarktarius posted...
windows+R, enter "mdsched.exe"

No issues detected

Anything else I could check?

ctrl+alt+del into task manager, and flip to the startup tab.
Disable anything you don't actually need.

Based on my experience, I have to ask... do you have any gaming programs installed? Like Razer? ASUS?

Last November, my PC hard crashed/froze 5 times after finishing a game. It drove me nuts, very stressed, and willing to go to a tech repair. Then I had a feeling it had to do with Razer Synapse. Uninstalled it and guess what? My PC didn't freeze anymore.. omfg,...

Did you check your hardware? make sure everything is placed property.

Have you checked Event Viewer for any interesting looking events that took place around the time of freezing?

The weird thing is it's just been doing it when I'm not really doing much. Like I have Discord open and a Chrome browser usually on Reddit or GameFAQs.

Startup didn't have anything out of the ordinary that wasn't already disabled.

Hardware should all be seated properly, the PC has just been sitting in the same spot for a year and I haven't made any modifications since buying it and adding a few things.

I do have Radeon Software but it's been there since the start so I don't think that's a factor

Trying Event Viewer now - what exactly should I be looking for?

Windows Update will fuck over a PC out of nowhere, by assigning itself an absurdly high priority and clogging up disk i/o. Crazy-greedy process that can't ever be (permanently) turned off or made notify-only.

Was happening to me too, all kinds of permission errors. I did a bunch of Event Viewer, Reliability checks, regedit changes, etc., but nothing stopped them. I formatted and reinstalled Windows, but it's still happened a couple times. Luckily, it hasn't happened in a few weeks now. I also agree with hardware's software, like Razer Synapse. For some reason they can cause issues.
