Another show with a similar dub is Crayon Shin Chan. They made one of the characters a republican. I miss Shin Chan. Apparently it is still running to this day in Japan on like its 40th season or something

We only ever got 1 random season dubbed like 10 years ago. I wish they would dub the whole history of Shin Chan, as long as it keeps the same style of dubbing

lmfao I decided to look up the Shin Chan dub because I loved watching that show on the local Japanese channel when I was a kid. Literally 8 seconds in: "Are you parents doctors, lawyers, or Jews?"

And a minute down the line they're talking about Viagra and crystal meth lol.

It says there's 78 dubbed episodes though. That's gotta be multiple seasons, right?

Oh dang, I didn't know Laura Bailey was Shin-chan lol. I thought that women usually voiced young boys with high voices; Shin's voice is still pretty mannish for a 5-year-old

I actually met Laura Bailey shortly after this first began airing, at an anime con. I wasn't super into it, but she was(iirc) doing a panel and talking a bit about Shin-chan. I tried to get an autograph without a pen for a friend of mine. >_>

She was nice. Shook my hand and everything. It wasn't even an autograph signing or anything, she was just chilling and talking to someone and some weirdo 13 year old(I think I was that old lol, maybe younger) runs up and asks for an autograph without a pen.

Super nice lady.

I got to meet Johnny Yong Bosch at an anime convention a few years before covid and he was really nice too. He said the Persona poster I gave him to sign was really nice and asked where I got it. His daughter was with him, so I gave her one of the tiny plushies that I picked up for my girlfriend :3

Damn. I always wanted to meet JYB.

I haven't been to an anime con since then, which is weird as I loved it at the time even though I wasn't big into anime. I guess I just don't know anyone who's super into it lol. I might go to one if there is one in town anytime soon.

Kawaii Kon is basically the only one we have here in Hawaii, but of course it's been canceled because of the pandemic :(

But according to their website it's scheduled for April next year, so hopefully things are cleared up enough for it to happen :D
