The World's Richest Man, Elon Musk has warned Austin NOT to become a "San Francisco copycat" by CUTTING its police budget in bowing to BLM Protesters after announcing his move to Texas as he makes the threat he could leave there too for going "woke"!!

He said "Austin should be its city, not a San Francisco copyright" while in response to Austin police cuts

Proposition A would require there to be at least 2 Austin Police officers for every 1000 residents and would provide officers 40 hours of extra police training each year on topics such as active shooter scenarios and weapon proficiency

It is on a ballot measure included in the Nov. 2 election and comes after Austin City Council voted last year in the wake of BLM protest to cut 150 million from its police budget

The amount represented a little more than a 3rd of its total budget and is instead being invested into other public services

The city has experienced a 71% increaes in homicides according to Fox News as the funding cuts resulted in a series of police department changes.

Cadet classes were cancelled making it harder to recruit officers into the force and certain specialized units were trimmed

In a reversal austin's city council reversed the budget cuts and agreed to a new budget that would see the police budget rise to 442 million for 2021-22 up from 309 million

Musk made headlines when he blindsided his leadership team after announcing Tesla HQ would leave Fremont and to Austin citing the cost of living

Tesla was at the top of the most valuable company at one point after his fortune surged by 10 billion but Microsoft regained the title as most world's valuable company a day later

I dislike Elon Musk because he is an idiot making money off smart people.

That said I dont believe in defunding the police rather restructuring and rethinking policing to deal with the epidemic of racial injustice.
Cutting funding wont do that. It will just give the white supremacist patriarchy less shiny toys to play with.

I think that's fundamental to dealing with the problem though. The structure is entirely toxic from the top down in it's very design, so the goal should be to limit its applications to specific situations while gradually introducing more modern alternatives.

Which in turn is a good thing. Give them less to play with. They don't need to play with our money. They need to do their jobs.

I am starting to see why people think there are no good cops. Most of them are just gungho assholes who hide behind their badges so that they can look and act tough. If you're not a cop who goes guns blazing into every situation whether it be a little boy with a wii controller or a guy caught with a conterfeit $20 then you're a worthless asshole who gets called onto the scene of a deadly situation and is too much of a pussy to do anything about it. We need to cut funding so that they can actually do something useful instead of wasting our taxpayer dollars.
