Poll of the Day > Super Smash Bros on the Wii U feels like a fever dream

• It had relatively little hype
• There wasn't really much to it in terms of game features compared to Melee, Brawl, and Ultimate
• The character models for some characters like Link and Ganondorf straight up sucked
• Lots of characters were cut

Yet there was a 4 year period where it was the newest Smash Bros game. It's like those years didn't even exist.

And it always felt like it. It never felt complete.

its the fact that it came out like a year earlier on the 3ds, so when the actual good version came out for Wiiu everyone had already played the shit outta the game on 3ds
thats how it was for us anyways

It was better than brawl as someone already said. And if it wasn't for Ultimates dlc (and if you count its own dlc) it had better newcomers than any other smash game.

And trophies are better than spirits... An unpopular opinion I guess but I don't really see why.

First to introduce 8 player and the 3DS version was pretty jam packed

I thought it would move Wii U's too, didnt happen

Good time with friends, it wasnt the same playing online after playing with them.
I had a 86% win rate on glory too

Yep, good times, good times.. I have yet to play Ultimate

I'm guessing releasing the 3DS version first had something to do with that. As much as it was generally the better version, plenty of people already had a 3DS and were content enough with that version that they didn't feel the need to buy a whole system just to buy the game again. Toss in BotW's future being uncertain at the time, and you've got an inadequate system seller.
