Rapper Fetty Wap has been arrested and charged in a major drug trafficking ring that officials say moved more than 100 kilograms of controlled substances across the country. The "Trap Queen" rapper, 30, was arrested on Thursday, and is one of six people charged with "conspiring to distribute and possess controlled substances," according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice. Fetty, n William Junior Maxwell II, and the other men, including a New Jersey corrections officer, allegedly distributed more than 100 kilograms of cocaine, heroin, fentanyl and crack cocaine across Long Island and New Jersey from June 2019 to June 2020. The men allegedly obtained the narcotics on the West Coast, then used the U.S. Postal Service and drivers with hidden compartments in their vehicles to transport them cross-country, where they were stored in Suffolk County, New York, according to the release.

"Maxwell was a kilogram-level redistributor for the trafficking organization," officials said of his role. Search warrants yielded the recovery of approximately $1.5 million in cash, 16 kilograms of cocaine, 2 kilograms of heroin, numerous fentanyl pills, two 9mm handguns, a rifle, a .45 caliber pistol, a .40 caliber pistol and ammunition, according to the release. "The fact that we arrested a chart-topping rap artist and a corrections officer as part of the conspiracy illustrates just how vile the drug trade has become," Michael Driscoll, FBI assistant director-in-charge, said in a statement. Fetty Wap was arrested at Citi Field in Queens, New York, and is expected to make his initial court appearance on Long Island on Friday, the New York Daily News reported.

Yeah, that's true. I didn't think about him rapping while in prison. I know some rappers don't release new music until after they get out, but I still remember laughing about Shyne literally phoning in his verses while he was locked up.

I think the main question I have at times like this...why do successful musicians, performers, etc. feel the need to sell drugs on the side? Doesn't your ass have enough money already?

Edit: Not necessarily this guy and only this guy, but in general. Drug distribution and weapons charges come up all the time with famous people.

1. A lot of these people aren't making the kind of money you think they're making. They're usually getting fucked over by their record label unless they go independent.

2. They were wrapped up in this lifestyle long before they became famous and many of them just get addicted to the lifestyle more than the actual monetary gain.

Well he likely has always been selling and once you're in that life, it isn't so easy to leave it.

Life in Prison for this. Meanwhile were trying to decide if 3 guys who murdered a random jogger should even get one day.

you know people like this also believe in capitalism like a religiondrug traffickers are just filling a market need, and maybe making all drugs that people are going to find a way to do illegal is just pushing everything underground where things are unregulated resulting in proliferation of drugs cut with fentanyl and the need for weapons to protect business
