Unfortunately it's use 'em or lose 'em for me. Forgot to mention that in the OP. But I would save some days if that were an option

Personally, I'd take a week off that isn't during the holiday season.

It's really awesome to go places during the week with (generally) no wait times and not having to deal with crowds. (Movies, restaurants, etc.)

Then again, I hate people, so your mileage may vary.

Probably three day weekends. The problem with taking long spans off from work is that there's always a lot of stuff you have to do before you go and catch up when you get back, which kills the fun.

Good point, I would love to plan a trip somewhere on a regular week but I have a hard time getting others to coordinate with me. I'll most likely be chillin at home on my off days

I do get PTO! Both are good choices

This is true. I always think I'll just burn that bridge when I get to it, but when I do get to it, I realize I need a lot more fire...

I actually do have 5 days of vacation to use. I'll be using 2 of them to go to Vegas for New Years. The other three I will just cash out.

Next year I'll get 10 days.

I have a bunch of use or lose, as well But a little more than 5, I think. Either way, Im using the them for both holidays. But Im taking alike a couple weeks off for both to visit home while my sister is home so we can all be together since she recently started college this year. And it actually close to me than to our home

Same thought process as me.
Add to that, most will take off around the holidays so work will generally be pretty slow/easy (depends on the job, of course), so unless I need to travel for them, those are great weeks to be at work.

I used to be in favor of taking a day off here or there to have shorter weeks / longer weekends.
But...if I'm gone just a day or two, I have the same work to do and less time for it.
If I'm gone a week or more, I don't get tasks or they're given to someone else b/c then it's too long to wait for me to get to it.

So now I just do the occasional non-special week off approach.

I have 7 but I can choose to get paid for them or roll them over for next year. I haven't decided yet but I have until Dec 17th to make a decision.
