Response to the multiplayer beta overall seems positive.

But it was the campaign footage from last year that overall has a very mixed response. I guess we'll have a good idea if the year long delay did the job and if they can completely turn around that initial response.

I don't like that the campaign is probably going to be some kind of live service thing. I'd rather get the complete package on day one. But oh well, not much that can be done about that. I just want to how it plays and how it's structured compared to traditional Halo campaigns.

Yeah I also liked the look of the footage gameplay wise. Visuals were a bit bland but not a huge deal to me personally.

I just hope it has more open world hub areas than just the grassy looking places.

I'd be fine with a typical Halo campaign and then some ODST style expansion campaigns down the track. Hopefully it's like that.

Not necessarily. They've said they built the story to be a sequel but also an entry point where the other games aren't needed to follow along. Sort of like how Halo 1 started you off in the middle of a war that'd been going for a few decades. There's a bunch of shit that happened beforehand that you could read about to flesh out the narrative a bit but it wasn't needed to understand the game's plot.

But the cutscenes for HW2 are incredible and you can watch them all in under 30 minutes:

Yeah I liked the looks of it.

My only real concern is if the entire game looks like the same overworld. Hope we get some other areas. There was one little bit of the trailer that looked like it was covered in rubble so I think it's fine.

Hmm I have no idea what to expect from this. I am so used to the classic level style campaign from the previous Halos, and I am getting a Destiny feel for this one? The normal 1 player quests in Destiny 2 where you go collect 5 of this, or go destroy 4 of these, is one of my least favorite things of the game. Hopefully Halo doesn't get bogged down with that.

However Halo definitely needed a big change in their campaign mode, and this looks like it has a ton of potential. I wonder how big the open world is? And will we get separate missions or separate areas that are unique environments? Also, how well is the story going to be presented in this open world format? Hopefully we get plenty of epic cut scenes.

I think the design is supposed to be like optional bases that branch off the main path. Probably to earn those armor upgrades. I don't think you'll be going back to bases for quests or anything. Gears 5 did something like that but at a smaller scale.

Good trailer for sure, but it still didn't really answer any of the questions I had. I'm sure it will be fine, but I still can't help but be a little skeptical about open world in a Halo game. Even the open levels of Halo 1 that inspired this game were ultimately still linear experiences with clear objectives.

I love the moment in the trailer when Chief saves the marines, loads them in a Warthog, and immediately drives off a 500 foot cliff lol had to be a callback to the original Halo, I have driven off sooo many cliffs with my buddy or a bunch of marines in the car to our deaths

from the leaks it seems like there will be actual normal missions to progress the story

sort of like ODST having the open world city to fuck around in between missions

That sounds good. ODST had a neat structure but just didn't really do anything interesting with the hub world. Infinite doesn't look like it has that problem.
