It's not. The man has a job, he has a roof, he has food. And most importantly, he has the time for petty worries. Does his life suck? Of course. But that's the reality of this world. And the reality of this world is that some people in it have even less opportunity. They wish they had this man's worries. That, I would call depressing perhaps. And even then, all most would say is "damn that sucks" and move on because nobody gives a damn at all. Somewhere out there, someone is dying without even the hope that someone would answer if they screamed out for help.

This man is posting his life on the internet, where some people will at least witness it. I consider him fortunate, as fortunate as us all.

I think the opening statement in particular really isn't saying much.

There are people handling millions if not billions of dollars worth of business everyday, seeing the prices outright, but also doing well for themselves perhaps in the 6 figure range that's not depressing. They probably aren't bitter about that. If anything, they're glad the business/company they're in is booming enough to give them that kind of pay.

Hate to kick a guy in a bad spot, but he's complaining about being a retail worker. I don't know the full context if he's still in school, or in advanced adulthood, or if he's dealt a bad hand in opportunities. Retail obviously comes with mark-ups, trade work comes with mark-ups. Joke ass freelancers feel immediately entitled to mark-ups. Hell, free trade resellers also think they have immediate command of their premiums. But that's just the shape of business. You're out to make money, not primarily provide for others.

Reality is, although maybe his options are limited, this employer isn't forcing this guy to stay in the company.

As someone who loves nature, I find myself thinking about it from a "natural world" sort of perspective. Basically every animal but humans and our pets struggles day in and day out, and most barely scrape by during their (usually short) uncomfortable life. The average person in America is basically always safe, has so much food that their main concern regarding it is getting too fat, and only has to do very simple tasks to achieve this. They even get a reprieve 2/7 days of the week and at night!

The guy in the OP has it particularly rough, but most people in developed countries have it good as fuck if you look at things objectively. Someone from just 200 years ago would absolutely never believe life could ever be the unsustainable indulgence that defines the current era.

Rich pricks don't deserve their wealth by and large, of course, don't get me wrong. But the average person doesn't really deserve for it to be distributed to them either, tbqh.

In an ideal and equitable situation, no single individual should have that much money (at least not that much that you can buy overpriced watches and yachts like they're nothing). The fact that there is almost infinitely more speculative wealth than can be backed up by material wealth is not helping.

*ahem*

Oh woe is me! Shy away with thy glance, for I am wretched! My troubled tale begins when I was but a wee lass of yea height, and my father got me the wrong present. I wept and I cried and I beat the local orphans until he did rectify his most grievous err.

Nobody, of course.

Actually it should go towards infrastructure and climate goals if we were smart, but we of course aren't

Not always that easy. People dont work shitty jobs because they want to prove a point. Most of these people have applied everywhere within a two hour radius of their home and cant afford to move across the state/country to start over.

Things have got to change.
