I think the opening statement in particular really isn't saying much.

There are people handling millions if not billions of dollars worth of business everyday, seeing the prices outright, but also doing well for themselves perhaps in the 6 figure range that's not depressing. They probably aren't bitter about that. If anything, they're glad the business/company they're in is booming enough to give them that kind of pay.

Hate to kick a guy in a bad spot, but he's complaining about being a retail worker. I don't know the full context if he's still in school, or in advanced adulthood, or if he's dealt a bad hand in opportunities. Retail obviously comes with mark-ups, trade work comes with mark-ups. Joke ass freelancers feel immediately entitled to mark-ups. Hell, free trade resellers also think they have immediate command of their premiums. But that's just the shape of business. You're out to make money, not primarily provide for others.

Reality is, although maybe his options are limited, this employer isn't forcing this guy to stay in the company.
