I can understand removing it for a character but did they also remove it from the scenery in San Andreas in the country side like inside gun shops? Felt that sort of thing made the game feel more authentic

They should not remove any such things, in the context of how GTA portrays America.

But I'm not buying it already for other reasons, namely that Rockstar sues modders.

Did you find the dialogue in the first third of the game controversial? I didnt think Ebonics being spoken by black characters could be problematic but Ill have to think about it.

Yea, probably racists making a big deal out of Ebonics being used in media to be racist, basically the people who we shouldnt care about getting offended. The people who would get offended by a satirical portrayal of a pro-Confederate character matters more because they arent getting offended from a place of racism even if their offense might be a tad dramatic.

It's not a big deal, but you have to stand on principle, because if all you do is compromise because "it's no big deal" by the time they are removing entire shows from netflix/amazon/the world forever because they are "culturally insensitive" you won't really have a leg to stand on.

If you are rereleasing a game, rerelease it. Don't rewrite history, it's dumb.

Either Rockstar decided not to give the flag undeserved exposure, which is fair, or they predicted some kind of controversy because of current real world political turmoil and decided to nip it in the bud, which is also fair.

the issue is the flag was being worn by a stereotypical redneck son of the south douche. Not being promoted at all.

and the fact that thats where rockstar draws the line on offensive and yet the entire game is driven by other stereotypes, death/murder, drugs and other stuff. Seems rather ridiculous.
