It was an accident due to a malfunctioning prop, so the charge will likely be negligence and the cause of death will be ruled as accidental. The fact that she died in the first place is traumatic for everyone - for Alec Baldwin, for the person who loaded the faulty blank, for the director who survived, for the crew who witnessed, for the colleagues and family of the deceased. Unless it's determined otherwise, no-one wanted this, and the death was accidental. There is literally nothing they can get Alec on. He is an actor, he was given a prop to act with, that prop malfunctioned. If you're far enough removed from the slaying but still charged with manslaughter due to negligence or what have you, and it's decided that you had no intent to cause harm or whatever and the court takes pity on you, stuff like probation and compensation is on the table. So even assuming he gets charged, I doubt he'll go to jail.
