Moderna is the best imo.
Pfizer is just *slightly* worse but still really good.
Johnson & Johnson works but it probably has the most issues >_>

any of them. tbqh they're probably gonna push for mixing with boosters. all the vaccines only code for small portions of the spike protein, so mixing them would give you a wider range of immunity.

When I got my 1st shot in May the word was that Pfizer was slightly better than Moderna, now, like the guys above said it leans toward Moderna but yeah either of those 2 are good and can be mixed together.

pfizer or moderna. walk-in clinics don't give you a choice, i think they generally have one or the other. it seems both have similar side effects, and the extent of those side effects vary but the worst outcome is generally a day or two of being really exhausted and/or generally shitty feeling.

sorry for your loss.
Thank you. I'm in tears still and today pushed me to get them vaccinated. I was in the middle of them having a choice but I have to be the adult here.

It's okay, you're doing the right thing. But don't forget to let other hesitant people know what you went through, it can do a lot of good to help us all beat this horrible disease.

This topic is sadly proof that the only way for the hesitants to get the vaccine is to actually be affected by Covid. Thousands more have to die for people to finally get the damn thing.

Whichever one of Pfizer or Moderna you can access more easily. If both are equally accessible, it sounds like Moderna is the better option but that's not completely clear at this stage. They're very similar at any rate.

Avoid J&J if you can until such time as they're doing it as a two-dose. It's basically equivalent to a single shot of AstraZeneca, which while decent (if not quite as good as Pfizer / Moderna) with two doses, is not that great with just one. EDIT: To be very clear, it's not dangerous, nor is it completely ineffective. It just isn't nearly as good as the other options, mostly because it's only one dose.

And keep in mind that it takes 14 days from the second dose before you have full protection. Wait that long before letting your guard down.

It's also important to note: Yes, "mainstream" scientists and agencies do sometimes get things wrong. And they're usually shit at explaining things in a way average people can relate to. But there is no big conspiracy by them to turn you into a crocodile or whatever the latest crazy shit anti-vaxxers are saying is. On the other hand, those who start the anti-vax misinformation (often not those who are merely repeating it) are extremely well-versed in exactly how to catch people's attentions and convince them, as well as very good at taking advantage of the average person's lack of in-depth knowledge on how statistics work (which, to be clear, is not knowledge an average person should need to have).

As a physician who has been admitting covid patients and watching the response on various news sources since the very beginning, I can tell you that nearly all of the misinformation is coming from the far right wing, but the problem is there's so much of it and it's so pervasive and unrelenting, it actually manages to make everyone else look untrustworthy as well. I was absolutely furious at the way Fox News allowed its pundits to call us the "medical cartel" and outright claimed we were lying about full hospitals. I literally had to tell a patient I couldn't transfer her to another hospital for surgery because there weren't any beds, and so she passed away with a surgical problem that could have been fixed. That is the honest to goodness truth. I saved all of these screenshots to remind people of where this comes from.

Most of the people here know that I was pretty strongly Republican prior to about 2019, and then became strongly anti-republican in 2020. In retrospect, I can't believe I fell for all those lies. So I've been there. If it weren't for the fact that they drove directly into my lane and kept claiming what I was seeing literally every day wasn't true, and that I was actually the enemy, it was just too much.

Moderna seems to be the best.

I have no analyzed which one I'd recommend for teens. But it would likely be Moderna as well.

I'd recommend you ask them to aspirate first when giving the injection. It seems like many if not most side effects could be from the rare (<1 in 1000) times they incorrectly administer the vaccine and it gets in the blood stream.

There are no downsides to aspiration.

It's honestly fucking surreal that there are literally major media outlets that push conspiracy shit in America.

Like, we have very minor ones that push it here. We certianly have major ones that are right-leaning. But they don't do, well, that. We have a semi-major one on the left that does feel a bit bordering on conspiratorial at times, but it's nothing like Fox's level of craziness. Every single major media outlet is certianly pro-vaccination and pro-masks; the views on lockdowns are a bit more divided.

This is probably half the reason why anti-vaxx / etc is a very significant portion of the population in America, and something the average person might not ever encounter offline everywhere else. >_>

BTW TC if you are concerned about misinformation I very much empathize with that. Many institutions and MSM can be shitty about just being truthful. I'd be happy to provide detailed sources of data about vaccine safety or address any questions/concerns you have about it. And I don't at all judge you for having skepticism.

Getting vaccinated is the pragmatic choice for you and your family's safety, but you are not a bad person for having doubts. Let me know if I can be a resource.

see what is available close to you and where. I recommend Moderna first, Pfizer 2nd and 2 Johnsons 3rd (only 1 shot as opposed to 2 but less effective, but the ones with 2 require a month wait in between first and second shot). Consensus from what I've seen is Moderna is preferred and that is the one I got.

No offense, but you should let professionals give advice on subjects like this. Nearly every conversation I've had with you, from vaccination to stuff like hydroxychloroquine and Ivermectin, has been an endless battle to get you to understand but the data actually says and doesn't say.

You can still have a car wreck if you're not driving drunk.

But if you're 80% less likely to catch the disease, you're at least 80% less likely to spread it.

Fun fact, the measles vaccine is only 95% effective. Ever wonder why you never seen a case? Because everyone is vaccinated, and even the people who could catch it aren't exposed to anyone who has it.

mRNA (Pfizer and Moderna) do not use live virus so they will have the least side effects for someone with a weak immune system. Pfizer is more mild than Moderna.
