Main reason Fauci gets hated I believe is because of his involvement in the Wuhan science lab I believe. He has never been transparent about that. He has also flip flopped like any good politician has. He is a scientist who also played the mask game with the public and many didnt buy it. Why would a scientist say masks are not necessary at beginning of Covid and than change his time after a few months? But never mind that..what from day one wasnt he saying cloth masks are minimally effective and therefore we need N95 at all times. To those who say the N95s were needed for medical staff.I say I agree.but dont lie to the public about it to protect the medicinal people as you lose trust. He started off on wrong foot and never gained it back with most people.

I do however think the far right crazies hate him regardless and are closed minded. But just think how many lives may have been saved if Fauci had been saying N95s at all times instead of mask up.

as for Chapelle. The dude is a comedian and the day we make all comedians PC is the day they die.

I dare anyone to watch his show and listen to his story about the trans person he befriended and than not hate the freaking people who ridiculed the trans person for supporting Dave Chapelle.

Chapelle is a comedian and there are no titles to comedies. Those who lay titles on comedians for an act should lay titles on actors for the roles they play.

You mean he didn't know all the facts about a novel virus and he was giving the best advice he could give at the time and adjusted what he recommended the more we learned about the virus? That vile bastard, he should have known everything the second this novel virus showed up.

He did not learn more information about the virus when he flip flopped on masks. He straight up said that he lied about masks because he was worried that the healthcare officials would not be able to get enough PPE. That's not evolving science, that's "I'm willing to lie to you about science if I think it's in the greater good."

People were hoarding PPE so much that we couldn't get enough for front line healthcare workers who were definitely going to be dealing with covid patients at a time when we had relatively few cases. He definitely should have been more up front in his messaging, but let's not pretend people weren't causing a huge problem in this regard.

All I know is the US was insane about masks. We were wearing them before they even announced it was contagious and had a lockdown when I was in Wuhan. America took months to decide they work. Even after Nature published a paper saying they work to prevent the spread of coronavirus the US still took months to recommend them. I don't care what the stupid excuse is, the damage was done.

Why don't people like him? Because we are being told to praise a man who at best is definitive yet inconsistent, and at worst is a hypocritical political figure smugly bullshitting and ignoring every bit of science he doesn't find politically desirable. (Not to mention his ties to GoF research)

His vanity and condescension paired with his inconsistencies and omissions have set back trust in institutions, and that lack of trust costs people their lives. And that distrust of him turns into contempt when idiots try to convince you that this political wonk is a hero of some kind and we need to treat him like god damn iron man.

That's why people don't like him.
